Poppy (1952 Film)
''Poppy'' (Italian: ''Lo sai che i papaveri'') is a 1952 Italian comedy film by Vittorio Metz and Marcello Marchesi and starring Walter Chiari, Anna Maria Ferrero and Carlo Campanini.Brunetta p.120 It was sot at the Ponti-De Laurentis Studios in Rome. The film's sets were designed by the art director Alberto Boccianti. Synopsis Unknowingly, respectable schoolteacher Gualtiero leads a double life as Walter who frequents nightclubs every night. Whereas Gualtiero is engaged to a fellow teacher Anna, Walter is a carousing womaniser. Pierina, one of his students who has a crush on him, discovers about his nocturnal visits and seeks him out. They enjoy a romance, but by day he remembers nothing about it. Eventually when confronted, he visits a psychiatrist who reveals he has a duel personality with strong contrasting traits inherited from each of his parents. Enio Girolami (14 January 1935 – 16 February 2013), sometimes credited as Thomas Moore, was an Italian film and television actor. Born in Rome, son of director Marino Girolami and brother of director Enzo G. Castellari, Girolami made his film debut at 18 with a role of weight in ''Fratelli d'Italia'' by Fausto Saraceni. Guglielmo Barnabò (11 May 1888 – 31 May 1954) was an Italian stage and film actor. He appeared in more than 90 films between 1926 and 1954. Life and career Born in Ancona, Barnabò made his stage debut in 1921 at the Greek Theatre of Syracuse, with the Annibale Ninchi's company. Galeazzo Benti (6 August 1923 – 21 April 1993) was an Italian actor. He appeared in more than 70 films between 1942 and 1991. Life and career Born Galeazzo Bentivoglio in Florence, Italy, a descendant of the Bentivoglio family, which ruled Bologna from 1401 until 1506 and from 1511 until 1512, he started his career as a cartoonist and a set designer. After his first roles in 1942, he had his breakout in 1943, in Sergio Tofano's ''Gian Burrasca'', in which he played a frivolous and falsely modest snob, a role he specialized during his career. After successfully alternating between cinema and revue, in the late 1950s he moved to Venezuela, where he worked in a television channel dedicated to Italian immigrants. He came back to Italy in the early 1980s, and here he reprised his acting career equally splitting between films and TV-series until his death from a heart attack in 1993. Raimondo Vianello (7 May 1922 – 15 April 2010) was an Italian film actor, comedian, and television host. He was a well-known Italian television personality. Biography He was born in Rome, but spent his youth in Pula, where his father, an Admiral of the Regia Marina, directed the local naval academy. During World War II he joined the Italian Social Republic, the fascist puppet state established in northern Italy after the Allied invasion of Italy. He was captured by American troops.
