Upper Poppleton
Upper Poppleton is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of the City of York in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated by the west bank of the River Ouse adjacent to Nether Poppleton, and west of York close to the A59 from York to Harrogate. The village is served by Poppleton railway station on the Harrogate Line. According to the 2001 census, the parish had a population of 1,961, increasing to 1,997 at the 2011 Census. Before 1996, it was part of the Borough of Harrogate. The name is derived from ''popel'' (pebble) and ''tun'' (hamlet, farm) and means "''Pebble Farm''" because of the gravel bed upon which the village was built. Upper Poppleton has been referred to as "Land Poppleton" and the neighbouring village of Nether Poppleton as "Water Poppleton" indicating their position relative to the river. Nether Poppleton is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of the City of York in North Yorkshire, England. Poppleton Railway Station
Poppleton is a railway station on the Harrogate Line, which runs between and via . The station, situated west of York, serves the villages of Nether Poppleton and Upper Poppleton, City of York in North Yorkshire, England. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains. The line is double track between Poppleton and Skelton Junction in York. West of Poppleton, the line is single track as far as Hammerton. The station has nursery (horticultural) which used to supply plants across the stations in Yorkshire pre-privatisation. A two-foot gauge railway still operates around the nursery. Facilities The main buildings here are now privately occupied and the station is unmanned. The lack of ticket machines means that tickets need to be purchased either on the train or in advance. Poppleton is a neighborhood in west Baltimore, Maryland. The neighborhood is bounded on the north by West Mulberry Street, on the south by West Baltimore Street, on the west by North Carey Street, and on the east by the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Poppleton Township is a township in Kittson County, Minnesota, Kittson County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 123 at the 2000 census. Poppleton Township was organized in 1893, and named for the numerous poplar trees within its borders. Earley is a town and civil parish in the Borough of Wokingham, Berkshire, England. Along with the neighbouring town of Woodley, the Office for National Statistics places Earley within the Reading/Wokingham Urban Area; for the purposes of local government it falls within the Borough of Wokingham, outside the area of Reading Borough Council. Andrew Jackson Poppleton
Andrew Jackson Poppleton (July 24, 1830 – September 9, 1896) was a lawyer and politician in pioneer Omaha, Nebraska. Serving in a variety of roles over his lifetime, his name is present throughout many of the important events of early Omaha history. Background Born in Troy, Michigan, Poppleton went to Romeo Academy. He then went to the University of Michigan. In 1851, Poppleton graduated from Union College. He was admitted to the Michigan bar in 1852. In 1854, Poppleton moved to Omaha, Nebraska Territory. Poppleton practiced law in Omaha and was involved with the Democratic Party. Career Poppleton served in many political roles in pioneer Omaha. One of the founders of the Omaha Claim Club, Poppleton was also heavily involved in the enforcement of its rules over the city.
