Kevin Mathews (born 15 February 1961) is a Singaporean singer-songwriter and film music composer. Watchmen Mathews formed The Watchmen in 1989 with his Anglo Chinese School classmates Tony and James Makarome. Originally a five-man band called The Hornets, The Watchmen put out three independent releases in the early 1990s, ''Who Watches the Watchmen'', ''Industry & Commerce'' and the acclaimed ''This Savage Garden''. This garnered the trio an invitation from ''BigO'' magazine to contribute to their ''New School Rock III'' CD in 1993. The Watchmen contributed two songs, "Please Believe Me" and "Orchard Road", which went on to become a radio favourite. ''New School Rock III'' was nominated by 987FM for the Best Local Album of 1993. In May 1993, The Watchmen contributed the song "The High Cost Of Living" to ''BigOs ''Death Valley 92328'' CD. Tim Nolan
Tim Nolan (born 1960) is a British-born bassist living in Singapore. Early life Nolan was born in Oldham, Lancashire, United Kingdom in 1960. In the early 1980s he played with Nottingham-based jazz band Pinski Zoo, recording three albums; - "Introduce me to the Doctor", which garnered the review from NME of "Pinski Zoo have put the animal back into music," and which included the track 'Stutter Strut'. Other albums featuring Nolan included "The Dizzy Dance Record" and "The City Can't Have It Back". Anglo Chinese School
Anglo-Chinese School (ACS) is a family of Methodist schools in Singapore and Indonesia. It was founded in 1886 by Bishop William Fitzjames Oldham as an extension of the Methodist Church. Anglo-Chinese School is usually abbreviated as "ACS", with Anglo-Chinese Junior College abbreviated as "ACJC". Its students and alumni are referred to as "ACSians" (). One Leg Kicking
''One Leg Kicking'' is a 2001 Singaporean comedy-film movie about several soccer amateurs who compete in a soccer event for the 2002 World Cup Finals. The main actors of this movie are Gurmit Singh as Tai Po and Mark Lee as Handsome. Plot Tai Po and Vernon are shown to have a common pastime of playing soccer. Later, Tai Po enters a Youth Soccer Competition in a tryout, but gets hurt with his leg bleeding. Since that event, Tai Po appears to shun matches of soccer on the radio or on television while at work. Handsome Toh is then shown into the film, released from prison as an ex-convict, also with Kim, who writes to her home back overseas. Handsome arrives for a job interview, meeting Kim outside Sonny Lee's factory. They met Sonny's son Gavin who had returned to Singapore from studying in United States. Baybeats
Baybeats is an annual 3-day alternative music festival organized by Esplanade, and held in Singapore. It showcases various local acts such as regional and international artists. The festival is located at Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay and is 100% free and non-ticketed. The 3 main performing stages include the Baybeats Arena (Outdoor Theatre), Powerhouse Stage (The Edge) and the Chillout Stage (Concourse). Additionally, there is a series of magazine-style interview sessions at the Observation Deck (Library@Esplanade). Baybeats was launched in 2002 by John Chiong (WMUM) primarily to create a platform to showcase indie-rock musicians in Asia, especially local musicians, and to expose Singapore audiences to quality acts in the genre.
