Poovarasan
''Poovarasan'' is a 1996 Indian Tamil-language drama film, directed by Gokula Krishnan, starring Karthik and Rachana Banerjee. The film, produced by M Gafar includes a musical score by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 9 August 1996. This is Rachana Banerjee's debut Tamil film. Plot Ukrapandi ( Vijayakumar), after consulting an astrologer, ordered Govind ( Goundamani) to kill his baby in order to save his wife's life. Govind gives the baby to Sudalai (Chandrasekhar) and orders him to kill the baby. 25 years later, Poovarasan ( Karthik) was recruited by Govind to work. Poovarasan and Kaveri ( Rachana Banerjee) fall in love with each other. One day, Poovarasan saves Senadhipathy ( Radha Ravi). Senadhipathy's son Sinrasu and Ukrapandi's daughter Sundari fall in love. Gokula Krishnan
Gokula Krishnan was an Indian film director, who has directed Tamil films. He was primarily active in the 1980s and early 1990s and is most noted for his work on films featuring actor Karthik. He also extensively worked with Malayalam director Fazil and other Malayalam directors, when they made Tamil films, helping write dialogues. Career Gokula Krishnan made his directorial debut in the early 1980s, before choosing to prioritise his work as a script-writer to Malayalam director Fazil, when he made Tamil films. In the mid 1990s, Gokula Krishnan made three consecutive films with actor Karthik. Thalapathy Dinesh (also spelled Thalapathi Dinesh) is an Indian action choreographer who works mainly in Tamil cinema. Karthik (actor)
Murali Karthikeyan Muthuraman (born 13 September 1960), better known by his stage name Karthik, is an Indian actor, playback singer and politician who works mainly in Tamil cinema. He is the son of veteran actor R. Muthuraman. In the 1980s and 90s, Karthik was one of the biggest stars in the industry. He was first introduced by Bharathiraja in the Tamil film ''Alaigal Oivathillai'' (1981) and became a lead actor in Tamil films by his own. Subramaniyan Karuppaiya (born 25 May 1939), known by his stage name Goundamani, is an Indian actor and comedian who works in Tamil cinema. He is known for his comic duo partnership in Tamil films with fellow actor Senthil. The pair dominated the Tamil industry as comedians in the 1980s and 90s. He was called Goundamani after acting as a Gounder in one of his early day dramas and the pseudonym stuck with him forever. He has the ability to give counter dialogues on the spot and off the script on stage and during shooting but it has nothing to do with his screen name, contrary to popular belief (as counter is a term that was popular only from the late 2000s). Tiruchirapalli Srinivasan Rangarajan, professionally credited by his pseudonym Vaali (born 29 October 1931 – 18 July 2013) was an Indian poet who is the highest songs wrote lyricist in cinema and whose works were in Tamil, had a five-decade long association with the Tamil film industry, wrote over 15,000 songs. Sujatha (actress)
Sujatha (10 December 1952 – 6 April 2011) was an Indian actress who performed and staggered in a number of unique and variety of characters in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films- in addition to few in Kannada and Hindi languages as well. The actress was best known for restraint and subtlety in portrayal of varied emotions. After starring in numerous Malayalam films in her mother-tongue, Sujatha later got introduced to the Tamil film industry by veteran director K. Balachander and producer P.R. Govindarajan as a protagonist in her first Tamil film, ''Aval Oru Thodar Kathai'' (1974). It was a critically acclaimed film and launched the actress's first commecrical breakthrough in her acting career.
