Pontypridd Tram Road (also known as Pontypridd Tram Road Halt) was a railway station in Pontypridd, Wales. From 1904 to 1922, it served as the Pontypridd terminus of the Alexandra (Newport and South Wales) Docks and Railway's local passenger service between and . History Incorporated in 1865, the Alexandra (Newport and South Wales) Docks and Railway (AD&N) promoted the nominally independent Pontypridd, Caerphilly and Newport Railway in 1878 as a means of connecting with the Taff Vale Railway to tap the rich traffic of the Taff and Rhondda valleys without incurring the wrath of the Great Western Railway (GWR) or the London and North Western Railway. The first section between and Penrhos Junction to the west of opened to goods traffic in 1884, with the second section from to Mendalgief Sidings via Park Junction opening in April 1886. Pontypridd Urban District Council Tramways operated a tramway service in Pontypridd between 1904 and 1931. Part of it used the route of the Pontypridd and Rhondda Valley Tramway Company's horse tramway. Between 1919 and 1927, it was the only system in Wales where through running onto a neighbouring system occurred. In 1930, part of the system was converted to use trolleybuses, and the former horse tramway section was replaced by motor buses in 1931, bringing the tramway era to an end. During the Second World War, a number of trolleybuses were borrowed from other systems, to cope with heavy traffic, but the use of electric vehicles ended in 1957. Pontypridd Graig Railway Station
Pontypridd Graig railway station was a railway station located in the South Wales valleys town of Pontypridd, on the Barry Railway. Although the line was opened for mineral traffic on 18 July 1889 to take coal from Rhondda to the Docks, the passenger service did not start until 16 March 1896 after much lobbying from local residents along the line. On that date, Barry services commenced between the Taff Vale station at Porth and Barry where the train terminated in the bay platform (Platform 4). On 7 June 1897, a new passenger service began between Pontypridd and Cardiff Clarence Road via St Fagans and Cardiff Riverside. Pontypridd railway station serves the town of Pontypridd in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It is located at the junction of the Merthyr line and the Rhondda line and has for many years been the only station serving the town. Until the 1930s, Pontypridd had two other stations.
