Pontejos
Janine Ricalde Pontejos (born October 29, 1992) is a Filipino professional basketball player. She also represents the Philippine national team in international competitions. College Janine Pontejos first took up basketball growing up with her siblings in Lemery, Batangas. Her first competitive experience in the sport was as a varsity player of De La Salle Lipa. She part of both the school's athletics and basketball team. She later transferred to the Centro Escolar University and became part of the CEU Lady Scorpions. With the Lady Scorpions, she was named MVP for four times in the Women's National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) and her team dominated the National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (NAASCU). As of 2021, she is part of the CEU Lady Scorpions staff as an assistant coach. Club Pontejos has played in the Women's National Basketball League in the Philippines. 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup – Individual Contests
As part of the 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup held from June 8 to 12, 2018, three tournaments in addition to the main 3x3 men's and women's tournaments were contested. The Dunk-out contest was for men, the Skills contest for women, and the Shoot-out contest for both men and women. Dunk contest Qualification phase ;Format Each player competed in two rounds and four players with the highest score advances to the knockout stage. In a case of a tie, the tied players would have to perform again and in case they were still tied, the jury would have to decide the player who will advance through a majority decision. Basketball was among the sports contested at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in the Philippines. The basketball tournament in the games featured four events; traditional 5-on-5 basketball and 3x3 basketball, for both men and women. The FIBA 3x3 World Cup is a 3x3 basketball tournament for national teams organized by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The debut of the tournament then named as the FIBA 3x3 World Championship was held in August 2012 in Athens, Greece. The current champions are Serbia in the men's division and France in the women's division. There are two events in the tournament; one for men and another for women. 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup
The 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup, hosted by the Philippines, was an international 3x3 basketball event that featured separate competitions for men's and women's national teams. The tournament ran between 8 and 12 June 2018 in Bocaue, Bulacan, just north of Manila. It is co-organized by FIBA. Background It was announced on 5 December 2017 that the tournament would be held at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan, which is just north of Metro Manila. Since the final would be held on Philippine Independence Day, cultural events were also planned alongside the tournament proper. The Philippine Arena will also be used for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The tournament was officially launched on 18 January 2018 at the Bonifacio High Street in Taguig. The Philippines women's national basketball team is managed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP). Compared to the men's national team, the women's national team receives less reception from local basketball enthusiasts.
