Ponte-Leccia
Ponte Leccia (; or Ponte-Leccia) is a French village, part of the municipality (''commune'') of Morosaglia, in the department of Haute-Corse, Corsica. Its name in Corsican language is U Ponte à a Leccia. Geography Situated at the confluence between Asco and Golo rivers, it lies few km in the east of Morosaglia and is far from Corte, 46 from Bastia, 60 from Calvi and 100 from Ajaccio. Transport Ponte Leccia has a railway station on the CFC line Ajaccio-Bastia, on the junction point with the line to Calvi. It is crossed by the national roads N193 and N197. It has been used as a special stage in the Tour de Corse. Asco (river)
The Asco ( co, Ascu) is a small river in the department of Haute-Corse, Corsica, France. It is a tributary of the Golo. The river rises in the Monte Cinto massif among some of the highest mountains of Corsica, passes a ski resort and the old village of Asco and cuts through a dramatic gorge before joining the Golo. Course The Asco is long. It crosses the communes of Asco, Canavaggia, Moltifao and Morosaglia. It rises at an elevation of . The source is to the southeast of the Monte Cinto. Chemins De Fer De La Corse
Chemins de fer de la Corse ( co, Camini di Ferru di a Corsica) (CFC) is the name of the regional rail network serving the French island of Corsica. It is centred on the town of Ponte Leccia, from which three main lines radiate to Ajaccio, Bastia, and Calvi. The section following the northwest coastline between L'Île-Rousse and Calvi, known as the Balagne line, gives access to many beaches and is very popular with tourists. A fourth line, running from Casamozza (on the Bastia line) down the east coast of the island to Porto-Vecchio was badly damaged by bombardment during World War II and never reopened. History In 1877 it was decided to build a metre-gauge railway in Corsica, despite the very difficult terrain it would have to cross. Morosaglia
Morosaglia (; ; co, Merusaglia, link=no, ) is a commune in the Haute-Corse department, on the island of Corsica, France. Since 2015, it is the seat of the canton of Golo-Morosaglia. History Morosaglia is the native commune of Pasquale Paoli (1725-1807). The house in which he was born is a museum. This commune also is the historical seat of the Corsican Republic. Paoli had his chambers in the Franciscan monastery and the Corsican parliament met there. Geography Morosaglia is to the northeast of Corte in Castagniccia. Calvi (; ; ; ) is a ''commune'' in the Haute-Corse department of France on the island of Corsica. It is the seat of the Canton of Calvi, which contains Calvi and one other ''commune'', Lumio. Tour De Corse
The Tour de Corse is a rally first held in 1956 on the island of Corsica. It was the French round of the World Rally Championship from the inaugural 1973 season until 2008, was part of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge from 2011 to 2012, and finally returned to WRC in 2015. The name "Tour de Corse" refers to the fact that in the early days it was run around the island; nowadays it only features roads around Ajaccio. The rally is held on asphalt roads, and is known as the "Ten Thousand Turns Rally" because of the twisty mountain roads. A ''route nationale'', or simply ''nationale'', is a class of trunk road in France. They are important roads of national significance which cross broad portions of the French territory, in contrast to departmental or communal roads which serve more limited local areas. Their use is free, except when crossing certain structures subject to a toll.
