It occurs in the southern part of North America and is a specialist parasitoid of the Southern house spider. Description ''Allochares azureus'' is a distinctive species of spider wasp, especially in the shape of the head which is convex in the front and concave in its rear, this is especially marked in the males. It also has a characteristic excavated propodeum which has conical teeth pointing towards the wasp's posterior. The females lack a tarsal comb. The body of the wasp is black but the short hairs cause it to have blue or green iridescence. The females measure 9–13.5mm on length and the males 7-10mm. Spider Wasp
Wasps in the family Pompilidae are commonly called spider wasps, spider-hunting wasps, or pompilid wasps. The family is cosmopolitan, with some 5,000 species in six subfamilies. Nearly all species are solitary (with the exception of some group-nesting Ageniellini), and most capture and paralyze prey, though members of the subfamily Ceropalinae are kleptoparasites of other pompilids, or ectoparasitoids of living spiders. In South America, species may be referred to colloquially as or , though these names can be generally applied to any very large stinging wasps. Furthermore, in some parts of Venezuela and Colombia, it is called , or "horse killers", while in Brazil some particular bigger and brighter species of the general kind might be called /, or "throat locker". Morphology Like other strong fliers, pompilids have a thorax modified for efficient flight. The metathorax is solidly fused to the pronotum and mesothorax; moreover, the prothorax is best developed in Pompilidae a ...

Evagetes
''Evagetes'' is a genus of spider wasps from the family Pompilidae. There are 72 described species, of which 58 are found in the Palaearctic region, 11 in the Nearctic region, with a few penetrating to the Afrotropical, Oriental and Neotropic regions. ''Evagetes'' wasps are kleptoparasitic on other pompilid wasps, especially the genera ''Arachnospila'', ''Anoplius'', ''Episyron'' and '' Pompilus'', digging into their sealed burrows, eating the host egg and replacing it with an egg of its own. ''Evagetes'' wasps are characterised by their very short antennae. Most are species are black with the base of the antennae rufous, several ''Evagetes'' species are very metallic bluish insects. The type species was named by Lepeletier as ''Evagetes bicolor'' in 1845 but this has since been recognised as a synonym for '' E. dubius'' which was originally named ''Aporus ''Aporus'' is a genus of spider wasps from the family Pompilidae Wasps in the family Pompilidae are commonly called ...

Poecilopompilus is a fossorial genus of the family Pomplidae found in the New World. The main prey of these wasps are spiders of the family Araneidae Orb-weaver spiders are members of the spider family Araneidae. They are the most common group of builders of spiral wheel-shaped webs often found in gardens, fields, and forests. The English word "orb" can mean "circular", hence the English name .... Paracyphononyx
''Paracyphononyx'' is a genus of spider wasps distributed in the tropics and warmer temperate regions; they differ from other pompilids in that they do not permanently disable the host spider but allow the spider to resume activity after the wasp has laid its egg on the spider while the wasp larva exists as koinobiont ectoparasitoid of the spider. Species There are 51 species currently recognised in ''Paracophonyx'' and some of these are listed below with the areas where they have been recorded from. *'' Paracyphononyx affinis'' Haupt, 1929 Cameroon, Ghana, Uganda, Ecuador *'' Paracyphononyx africanus'' Rad., 1881 Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, Zimbabwe *'' Paracyphononyx alienus'' Smith, 1879 Japan *'' Paracyphononyx amoenissimus'' Dalla Torre Brazil *'' Paracyphononyx ater'' Priesner, 1955 Egypt *'' Paracyphononyx capensis'' Arnold, 1959 South Africa *'' Paracyphononyx carinatus'' Rad., 1881 Angola, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Zimbabwe *'' Paracyphononyx color ...
