Pompeu Fabra University
Pompeu Fabra University ( ca, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, UPF, ; es, link=no, Universidad Pompeu Fabra) is a public university located in the city of Barcelona, Catalonia in Spain. The university was created by the Autonomous Government of Catalonia in 1990 and was named after Pompeu Fabra. UPF has been ranked the best university in Spain since 2015 and 16th best young university in the world in 2022 by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Pompeu Fabra University is considered one of the most prestigious universities in Spain. It has occupied first place in the national ranking of scientific productivity since 2009. Academically, the university is known for its selective student admission as more than half of the degrees offered by it have among the highest university entrance grades (''selectivitat'') in the Catalan university system. UPF-Centre For Animal Ethics
The UPF-Centre for Animal Ethics (UPF-CAE) is an animal advocacy think tank based at Pompeu Fabra University. It aims to disseminate and promote non-anthropocentric and non-speciesist ethical perspectives in academia, politics and the media. The centre was established in December 2015 and is the first centre of its kind in both Catalonia and Spain. Its main activities include the co-organization of the 6th Conference of the European Association for Critical Animal Studies, together with the European Association for Critical Animal Studies. The centre's Media Observatory of Speciesism was launched in 2018, it analyzes the treatment of animals in the media from an anti-speciesist perspective and makes recommendations for ending speciesism in the media. Barcelona Biomedical Research Park
The Barcelona Biomedical Research Park ("PRBB") is an agglomeration of six public research centres and is located alongside the Hospital del Mar de Barcelona. The PRBB is the product of an initiative launched by the Government of Catalonia, the City Council of Barcelona and the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), which aims to promote research and collaboration between closely related fields. Each centre works independently in its own field and a management group, the PRBB Consortium, is responsible for managing the building and facilities, in addition to coordinating joint scientific research activities among the various centres. Tecnocampus
Tecnocampus is a Science park, scientific park in the city of Mataró, forming part of Pompeu Fabra University. It was inaugurated in November 2009 and it includes three faculties (Polythecnic, Economics and Health), more than one hundred enterprises and a conference center. It is member of the Catalan network of scientific and technological parks, member of the Spanish association of scientific and Technological parks, and the unique scientific park in the Maresme region. The building was designed by one of the prestigious Catalan architects firm MBM ARQUITECTES, integrated by Josep Martorell, Oriol Bohigas, David Mackay, Oriol Capdevila and Francesc Gual. Can Framis Museum
Can Framis is the latest Fundació Vila Casas museum, an art center in Barcelona devoted to the promotion of contemporary Catalan painting. Located in the old Can Framis factory complex, the museum displays more than 250 paintings from the sixties to the present made by artists born or currently living in Catalonia. In addition to the permanent collection which is divided in three floors, Can Framis Museum has an area dedicated to temporary exhibitions named Espai Aø. The permanent collection is updated periodically, and two new temporary exhibitions are opened every three months. The museum has an education program that offers activities designed for pre-school to secondary school, as well as for people with special educational needs. They also offer guided visits. Parc De La Ciutadella
The (; "Citadel Park") is a park on the northeastern edge of Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. For decades following its creation in the mid-19th century, this park was the city's only green space. The grounds include the city zoo (once home to the albino gorilla Snowflake, who died in 2003), the Palau del Parlament de Catalunya, a small lake, museums, and a large fountain designed by Josep Fontserè (with possible contributions by the young Antoni Gaudí).
