Pompeii Records
Pompeii Records was an American record company and label formed in 1968 in Dallas by Joe Perry, president, and Pat Morgan, chairman of the board. Distributed by Atco Records in the US and by London Records internationally, the company is noted for their Ike & Tina Turner releases in the late 1960s. Overview Joe Perry formerly of Big State Distributors formed a partnership with Pat Morgan and launched Pompeii Music Corp. which included two labels, Pompeii Records and Innis Records. Innis was founded by Ike Turner in the early 1960s and had already released a handful of singles. The first release from Pompeii was the single " So Fine" by Ike & Tina Turner in March 1968. Pat Morgan, former nightclub owner, who was also producer at Pompeii and eventually became the president. Dale McBride
Dale McBride (December 18, 1936 – November 30, 1992) was an American country music singer. In the 1970s, he charted several singles on the ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' country charts, including two Top 40 hits on the Con Brio Records label. His son is Terry McBride (musician), Terry McBride, who fronted the 1990s country band McBride & the Ride and has written singles for Brooks & Dunn. Dale McBride died in 1992 of a brain tumor. Biography Dale McBride was born in Lampasas, Texas, on December 18, 1936. He began recording in the 1950s, having several local rockabilly hits in Mississippi. In the late 1960s, McBride was discovered by Dean Martin, who signed him to a contract with Reprise Records. Lainie Kazan (born Lainie Levine; May 15, 1940) is an American actress and singer. Kings Of Rhythm
The Kings of Rhythm are an American music group formed in the late 1940s in Clarksdale, Mississippi and led by Ike Turner through to his death in 2007. Turner would retain the name of the band throughout his career, although the group has undergone considerable line-up changes over time. The group was an offshoot of a large big band ensemble called the Tophatters. By the late 1940s, Turner had renamed this group the Kings of Rhythm. Their early stage performances consisted largely of covers of popular jukebox hits of the day. In 1951, Turner and his Kings of Rhythm recorded the song "Rocket 88" (credited to Jackie Brenston and His Delta Cats)," which is a contender for the first rock and roll record. The song is inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, the Grammy Hall of Fame, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Singles. Tina Turner (born Anna Mae Bullock; November 26, 1939) is an American-born Swiss retired singer and actress. ''So Fine'' is a studio album by Ike & Tina Turner released on Pompeii Records in 1968. Content and release ''So Fine'' was the first album released on the Pompeii label. It features a remake of Ike and Tina's debut single "A Fool in Love". The duo also cover "Shake a Tail Feather" by The Five Du-Tones and " So Fine" by Johnny Otis. Three songs on the album "Bet'cha Can't Kiss Me (Just One Time)", "It Sho Ain't Me", and "Too Hot to Hold" were written by Mack Rice.
