Polonia Nowy Tomyśl is a Polish football club located in the town of Nowy Tomyśl, Greater Poland Voivodeship. History Polonia Nowy Tomyśl was established in 1922, and for much of its history has competed in lower regional and amateur leagues in Poland. The club first gained promotion to the senior league system in 1958, reaching the III liga, which was then a league at the third tier of the Polish football pyramid. It repeated this achievement in 1992, before suffering a series of relegations to the regional leagues at the sixth tier level. In the 21st century, the club has made significant progress back up the league system, achieving promotions to the IV liga (2004), the III liga (2008) and the II Liga West (2010). After the end of the 2011–12 season of the IV liga Greater Poland, the team was dissolved. Nowy Tomyśl (german: Neutomischel) is a town in western Poland, in Greater Poland Voivodeship. It is the capital of Nowy Tomyśl County. The population is 15,627 (2004). The town has a long tradition of wickerwork. In the main town square stands a wicker basket woven in 2006, measuring long, 9 m wide and 7.7 m high, entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest basket. II liga (Druga Liga, ), currently named eWinner II liga due to sponsorship reasons by eWinner, is a Polish football league that sits at the third tier of the Polish football league system. Until the end of the 2007–08 season ''II Liga'' referred to a league at the 2nd tier, although this changed with the formation of the Ekstraklasa as the top level league in Poland. Currently, II liga is below I liga and above III liga. Since the 2014/15 season there is one group making up the II Liga unlike in previous seasons when there were two groups (''West'' and ''East''). Poland Ekstraklasa (), meaning "Extra Class" in Polish, named PKO Ekstraklasa since the 2019–20 season due to its sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is the top Polish professional league for men's association football teams. Contested by 18 clubs, operating a system of promotion and relegation with the I liga, seasons start in July, and end in May or June the following year. Teams play a total of 34 games each. Greater Poland, often known by its Polish name Wielkopolska (; german: Großpolen, sv, Storpolen, la, Polonia Maior), is a Polish historical regions, historical region of west-central Poland. Klasa A represents the seventh level of the Polish football league system, Polish football hierarchy. Teams promoted from Klasa A move up to the liga okręgowa, whilst relegated teams descend to the Klasa B leagues. III liga (Trzecia liga) is a Polish football league that sits in the fourth tier of the Polish football league system. Until the end of the 2007–08 season, III liga referred to a league at the third tier (now called II liga) but this was changed with the formation of the Ekstraklasa as the top level league in Poland.
