''Polly of the Movies'' is a 1927 American silent comedy film directed by Scott Pembroke and starring Jason Robards, Gertrude Short and Corliss Palmer. It is loosely based on Harry Leon Wilson's 1922 novel '' Merton of the Movies'' and its various film adaptations.Lentz p.63 Synopsis A small town girl goes to Hollywood with ambitions of becoming major dramatic star. Scott Pembroke
Scott Pembroke (September 13, 1889 – February 21, 1951) was an American director, actor and screenwriter. He directed more than 70 films between 1920 and 1937. He was born in San Francisco, California and died in Pasadena, California. Pembroke was married to Gertrude Short.
