''Pollimyrus isidori'' is a species of electric fish in the family Mormyridae, found in the rivers of Gambia, Bénoué, Senegal, Niger, Volta, Chad, Nile and the coastal banks of several rivers in the Ivory Coast; it can reach a size of approximately 90 mm.Crawford, J.D.; Jacob, P.; Bench, V. (1997b) Sound production and reproductive ecology of strongly acoustic fish in Africa: Pollimyrus isidori, Mormyridae. Behavior 134:1–49. Environment Its preferred environment is fresh water as it provides suitable PH levels. Max Fernand Leon Poll (21 July 1908 in Ruisbroek, Flemish Brabant, Ruisbroek – 13 March 1991 in Uccle) was a Belgians, Belgian ichthyologist who specialised in the Cichlidae. In the years 1946 and 1947 he organised an exploration, expedition to Lake Tanganyika. Pollimyrus Nigricans
The dark stonebasher (''Pollimyrus nigricans'') is a species of ray-finned fish in the family Mormyridae. Location It is found in Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. In Africa, they can be found at Lake Victoria, Nabugabo and Kyoga; the Kiruni River (Semliki Valley), Malagarasi River and Tanganyika Lake. Biology Its natural habitats are rivers, swamps, freshwater lakes, freshwater marshes, and inland deltas. It can be found in tropical climates. They are also known to swim up the river to spawn. The Dark stonebasher also prefers the shallow muddy bottom of waters near vegetation. Feeding The dark stonebasher mainly feeds on Caridina and caenid larvae.
