Polka Floyd is an American band that covers many Pink Floyd songs by using the accordion to introduce polka into the music. One reviewer commented, "Cutting a vast swath across Pink's entire discography, the band injects the late great classic rock band's music with much-needed fun." The band plays "more than 40 Pink Floyd songs, mostly from 1968 to 1979." The band has shared bills with Unknown Hinson, əkoostik hookah, and The Toasters. əkoostik hookah is a jam band from Columbus, Ohio. Formed in 1991, the band has made multiple national tours in the US, as well as performing in overseas locales like Amsterdam and Jamaica, although they may more commonly be found playing local Columbus, Ohio venues like Newport Music Hall and Lifestyle Communities Pavilion. They are fixtures in many fine venues across the midwest. The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. WM Recordings
WM Recordings is a Heerlen, the Netherlands based record label founded in 2004, by Marco Kalnenek, who was also involved with Comfort Stand Recordings. Kalnenek also is the webmaster of Weirdomusic.com, a website nominated for a Webby Award in 2004. WM Recordings focuses on music that is, in their own words, "a little different". They do not specialize in one style, but release anything from free jazz to experimental soundscapes, world music and other styles that are often neglected by other netlabels. In 2007, WM Recordings started adding commercial releases to their catalog. These are available from most major download stores. The Toasters
The Toasters are one of the original American second wave of ska bands. Founded in New York City in 1981, the band has released nine studio albums, primarily through Moon Ska Records. History Englishman Robert "Bucket" Hingley relocated to New York City in 1980, where he managed that city's Forbidden Planet comic book store location. Hingley formed the Toasters in 1981 after seeing the Beat perform at the Roseland Ballroom. The group's first live show was supporting Bad Brains at A7 in 1981. One of the original second-wave ska bands, the early Toasters lineup included other employees of the Forbidden Planet store. The group self-released their first single, "Beat Up", in 1983. They recorded their Joe Jackson-produced debut EP, ''Recriminations'', in 1985. After failing to find a label to release it, Hingley formed his own label Moon Ska Records. Stuart Daniel Baker (November 7, 1954), better known by his stage name Unknown Hinson, is an American singer, musician, songwriter, comedian, and actor. Biography Stuart Daniel Baker, a music teacher and studio musician from Albemarle, North Carolina, created his alter-ego for ''The Wild Wild South'', a Charlotte-area public-access program that featured comedy sketches and concert footage.
