Polka Dot Shorts
''Polka Dot Shorts'' is a Canadian children's television series produced by TVOntario, which has been broadcast around the world. It was created, produced, and edited by Jed MacKay. Approximately 180 episodes were produced from 1993 to 2001, all produced by MacKay and directed by Michael McNamara. The series won a Gemini Award from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television in 2000 for "Best Pre-School Program or Series". About The series is based on ''Polka Dot Door'', and stars the characters Polkaroo, Humpty, Dumpty, Bear and Marigold. The characters are portrayed by "physical theater" actors in large costumes; Marigold's performer, for example, had a ballet and circus background. Charles P. Schott ("Bear") was a Gemini Awards finalist for "Best Performer in a Pre-School Series" in 2002. Alisa Walton
Alisa Walton (born January 15, 1970) is a Canadian actress best known for her work as Marigold on TVOntario's ''Polka Dot Shorts'' from 1993 to 2001, and as Socks the Monkey on the series' '' Elliot Moose'' on TVOntario and PBS. Walton is also an accomplished dancer & mime artist. As a youth she trained with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and the Celia Franca School of Dance in Ottawa. She is a certified Pilates instructor, and a photographer. She is also the artistic director of Crow's Feet Physical Theatre, a Toronto-based company of Dance and Circus Artists over the age of 40. ''Gisèle's Big Backyard'' is a Canadian children's television series, which aired on TVOntario from 1998 to 2019. Hosted and produced by children's entertainer and educator Gisèle Corinthios as a continuation of her earlier series ''The Nook'', the series featured Corinthios, puppet supporting characters and guests entertaining and educating children according to the HighScope curriculum of early childhood education.
