Polish Campaign Stars
Polish campaign stars were established on 14 June 2007 to recognize military and civilian participants of overseas missions since 2002. Polish personnel must have been present for at least one day. Foreigners may be presented with a campaign star for collaborating with Polish forces during the mission. Appearance The medal is 44 mm across in a bronze patina in the shape of a four pointed star. Behind the star are two crossed swords, blades pointing upward. The raised monogram of the letters "RP" is found in the top arm of the star. In the middle of the star is the name of a country or a geographical area for operations. On the lower arm and between the upper arms are stylized laurel leaves. The Obverse and reverse, reverse contains the two-line inscription "PACI SERVIO" (Service to peace) in the center of the star, with a place below for engraving dates of service. Ribbon Bars
A medal ribbon, service ribbon or ribbon bar is a small ribbon, mounted on a small metal bar equipped with an attaching device, which is generally issued for wear in place of a medal when it is not appropriate to wear the actual medal. Obverse and its opposite, reverse, refer to the two flat faces of coins and some other two-sided objects, including paper money, flags, seals, medals, drawings, old master prints and other works of art, and printed fabrics. Medal For Long Marital Life
The Medal for Long Marital Life ( pl, Medal Za Długoletnie Pożycie Małżeńskie) is a Polish medal established on February 17, 1960. It is awarded to couples who have been married for at least 50 years. It is a round, silver medal with six (6) rays. The obverse has a pink enameled center with two roses with intertwined stems superimposed. The reverse has the letters RP in the center. Surrounding this are the words: ZA DŁUGOLETNIE POŻYCIE MAŁŻEŃSKIE in a circle. The medal is 35mm in diameter. The ribbon is 37mm wide with a 4mm wide white stripe in the center of the ribbon. Campaign Medal
A campaign medal is a military decoration which is awarded to a member of an armed force who serves in a designated military operation or performs duty in a geographical theater. Campaign medals are very similar to service medals but carry a higher status as the award usually involves deployment to a foreign region or service in a combat zone. History Campaign medals were first invented to recognize general military service in war, in contrast to meritorious decorations which were only issued on a small scale for acts of heroism and bravery. The campaign were first issued by the British military with the medal awarded for the defeat of the Invincible Armada, with the 1815 Waterloo Medal being the first awarded to all men present and the 1847 Military General Service Medal being the first "modern" campaign medal.
