Polikarpov
Polikarpov Design Bureau was a Soviet OKB (design bureau) for aircraft, led by Nikolai Nikolaevich Polikarpov. Dux Factory was acquired by the USSR and became part of Polikarpov. After the death of Polikarpov on 30 July 1944 at the age of 52, his OKB was absorbed into Lavochkin, but with some of its engineers going to Mikoyan-Gurevich and its production facilities going to Sukhoi. For a long time the Polikarpov OKB headquarters were located at Aircraft plant #1 (formerly Dux Factory) in Moscow, where its purpose-built building still stands. Polikarpov MP
The Polikarpov MP (Поликарпов М П - Motoplanior - motor glider) was a Soviet transport aircraft developed by Polikarpov during World War II. Development Experiments undertaken by Aeroflot to use the Polikarpov BDP-2 as a cargo transport led to the idea of turning the glider into a motorized aircraft, with the possibility of a small series being produced. Two 145 hp M-11F cowled engines coupled with 2.35-meter propellers taken from Polikarpov Po-2 biplanes were installed on the leading edge of the wing. In 1943 the prototype was built by the Novosibirsk Factory No.51, with acceptance tests carried out at the Moscow Central Airfield by Captain SA Anojin. Seventy flights were undertaken by several test pilots between July 12 and September 10. When towed by a Tupolev SB, the MP was able to achieve speeds of up to 270 km and a height of 4,500 m. Antonov A-7
The Antonov A-7 was a Soviet light troop military glider of World War II. Development Shortly after the German attack in 1941, Soviet headquarters realized a need for transport gliders and ordered the development of several designs. Oleg Antonov offered a light glider, of which preliminary sketches had been drawn in 1939. It was first named RF-8 (''Rot Front-8'') and was essentially an enlarged variant of a sports glider, the RF-7. Following trials, its capacity was increased from five to seven persons (including pilot). The A-7 was an all-wooden high-wing monoplane, with a retractable undercarriage. It was evaluated in late 1941 and ordered for production, under the designation A-7 (Antonov, seven persons). Approximately 400 were built. Gribovskii G-11
The Gribovsky G-11 (russian: Грибовский Г-11) was a Soviet light troop/cargo military glider of World War II. Development The Soviet Union was the world's pioneer in designing transport gliders - the first design, the Grokhovski G-63, was built in 1932, however, no transport gliders were produced in series before World War II. Shortly after the German attack in 1941, the Soviet headquarters realized a need for transport gliders and ordered the development of several designs. Vladimir Gribovski agreed to design a light glider in two months and the tests of a prototype started on 1 September 1941. Given the Gribovsky designation G-29, it was accepted for production under the VVS designation G-11 (for Gribovski, 11-men including pilot).
