Luninets ( be, Лунінец, russian: Лунине́ц, pl, Łuniniec, lt, Luninecas, yi, לונינייץ, Luninitz BGN/PCGN romanization: ''Luninyets'') is a town and administrative centre for the Luninets district in Brest Region, Belarus. It has a population of some 24,000, and is immediately east of the Pinsk district within Brest. It is home to Luninets air base. Mikashevichy (, ; , ) is a city in the southwestern Belarusian Brest Region. It is located halfway between the cities of Brest and Gomel. Polish–Soviet War At the conclusion of World War I, Mikaszewicze held a special place in the political dialogue accompanying the Polish–Soviet War of liberation. The talks started in October 1919 at the small Mikaszewicze railway station and continued until December 1919. During the talks, Marshal Józef Piłsudski informed the Bolshevik delegation that Poland was not supporting the White movement of Anton Denikin in the Russian Civil War. The exchange of prisoners was decided there. However, the talks soon broke down. FC Luninets
FC Luninets is a Belarusian football club based in Luninets, Brest Region. History FC Luninets was founded in 1999 and joined Belarusian Second League the same year. The team quickly overshadowed local rivals Polesye Luninets (who were already playing in Second League for several seasons) and earned a promotion to the First League from the first attempt. Luninets fought for the promotion in their debut First League season, but ultimately finished second, losing the race to Molodechno. At the end of the year the team folded due to lack of financing. During their short history the team was led by coach Yakov Shapiro. At some point after their withdrawal from the First League they started playing in Brest Oblast league as an amateur team.
