The (officially stylized as Pokémon mini) is a handheld game console that was designed and manufactured by Nintendo and themed around the ''Pokémon'' media franchise. It is the smallest game system with interchangeable ROM cartridge, cartridges ever produced by Nintendo, weighing just under . It was first released in North America on November 16, 2001, (two days before the Nintendo Game Cube, GameCube was released) then in Japan on December 14, 2001, and in Europe on March 15, 2002. The systems were released in three colors: Wooper Blue, Chikorita Green, and Smoochum Purple. The Nintendo Entertainment System Game Pak is the software storage medium for the Nintendo Entertainment System. All officially licensed NTSC-U and PAL region cartridges are 13.3 cm (5.25 inches) tall, 12 cm (4.75 inches) wide and 2 cm (0.75 inches) thick. Early NES Game Paks are held together with 5 small, slotted screws. Games released after 1987, designated "Rev-A" on the back label, were redesigned slightly to incorporate two plastic clips molded into the plastic itself, eliminating the need for the top two screws. This is why older NES carts are referred to as "5-screw" and are distinguishable by their flat tops and five screws instead of three.
