''The Boys'' ( fi, Pojat) is a 1962 Finnish war drama film directed by Mikko Niskanen. It is based on a Pojat (novel), 1958 novel by Paavo Rintala. It was entered into the 3rd Moscow International Film Festival. Pojat (novel)
''Pojat'' (meaning ''Boys'' in Finnish) is a famous 1958 Finnish novel by Finnish author Paavo Rintala published by the Finnish publishing house Otava. Also known as ''Kuvia v. 1941–44 Oulun'' (''Pictures of Oulu 1941–1944''), it conveys the life of school boys in the turbulent period of the World War II in Oulu in northern Finland. The young men, in the absence of their fathers who have gone to war, are fascinated by war and the German Army soldiers and dream of heroic deeds. One of them, Immu, starts to develop a critical stand toward death and war. ''Skavabölen pojat'' (Finnish for "the boys from Skavaböle/Hyrylä") is a 2009 Finnish drama film. It was directed by Zaida Bergroth and based on a play by the same name, written by Antti Raivio in 1991 and performed at Q-teatteri in the 1990s. Kaarinan Pojat
Sämst klubb Kaarinan Pojat (abbreviated KaaPo) is a football club from Kaarina in Finland. The club was formed in 1932 and their home ground is at the Kaarinan urheilukenttä. The men's football first team currently plays in the Kakkonen (Second Division). The Chairman of KaaPo is Olli Tuominen. Background Kaarinan Pojat was established on 1 October 1958 having been initiated by a young teacher from Loimaa, Olavi Kuikka. The founding meeting was held at Ylikylä school and Pauli Hollmén was elected as chairman and Olavi Kuikka as secretary. The Executive Committee consisted of Heikki Hallikainen, Veikko Polari, Raimo Åkerblom, Arvi Kukkonen and Pertti Kottonen. The club progressed from its early roots and in 1976 Keijo Lindroos brought greater professionalism to the team's training which was born out by promotion of the men's first team to Division 3 in 1979. Torpan Pojat, shortened to ToPo, is a basketball club based in Helsinki, Finland. Torpan Pojat has their men's and women's team playing in national 1st division and many minor and junior teams in different age categories. History The club was formed in 1932 as a sports club for a school in the neighbourhood of Munkkiniemi in Helsinki. Their men's team played for the first time in the predecessor of Korisliiga in 1956 and continued to play a total of 51 seasons in Korisliiga and seven seasons in lower divisions between 1956 and their dissolution in 2013. The women's team played in the highest tier for the first time in 1962, but never managed to establish itself in the league. Torpan Pojat also played in international competitions.
