Poison City Records
Poison City Records is an independent record label based in Melbourne, Victoria, founded in 2003. The label opened a physical store in 2008, at 400 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy selling records and skateboards. In mid-2020, the store and label moved from Fitzroy to Preston. From 2008 to 2017, Poison City ran an annual three-day punk rock music festival called Poison City Weekender, with bands playing at multiple venues throughout Melbourne. Swervedriver
Swervedriver are an English alternative rock band formed in Oxford in 1989 around core members Adam Franklin and Jimmy Hartridge. Between 1989 and 1998, the band released four studio albums and numerous EPs and singles despite a considerable flux of members, managers, and record labels. By 1993 the band's lineup had settled with Franklin on vocals/guitar, Hartridge on guitar, Jez Hindmarsh on drums, and Steve George on bass. They had emerged with a heavier rock sound than their shoegaze contemporaries, and over the next five years it evolved to include elements of psychedelia, classic pop, and indie rock. Record label issues and waning interest within the group led to their split at the end of 1998. A decade later, Swervedriver reunited and toured periodically over the next five years, releasing their first new material in fifteen years with the 2013 single "Deep Wound". The Smith Street Band are an Australian rock band from Melbourne, Victoria, in which the titular Smith Street can be found. Screamfeeder
Screamfeeder is an Australian indie guitar pop group formed in Brisbane in 1991. The band's original line-up was composed of drummer Tony Blades, bassist/vocalist Kellie Lloyd and vocalist/guitarist Tim Steward. In 1995, Dean Shwereb replaced Blades on drums. Darek Mudge later joined on lead guitar from 2001 to 2005, and eventually rejoined in 2014. Samiam (pronounced "sam-I-am") is an American punk rock band from Berkeley, California, active since 1988. History Samiam was formed in late 1988 after the breakup of the Gilman club mainstay Isocracy. Their first show was in January 1989 with Christ on Parade. They released records through New Red Archives and Hopeless Records in the US and Burning Heart Records in Europe. In the mid-'90s, the band had two releases on major labels, Atlantic Records in 1994 and Ignition/Tommy Boy in 1997. Restorations (band)
Restorations is an American rock band, based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They formed after the dissolution of Jena Berlin, post-hardcore band from Philly that featured guitarist/singer Jon Loudon on vocals, guitarist Dave Klyman, plus third guitarist Lee Hartney and original drummer Jeff Meyers (Belgrade, Ma Jolie). Originally considered to be a "once-a-month/easy-band" with limited touring the band now tours regularly. The band initially released a 7" with Evil Weevil records featuring the songs "Frankford" and "Of Trees" and then partnered with Paper + Plastick for their Strange Behavior EP release both digitally and on 10" vinyl. Gareth Liddiard
Gareth Liddiard (born 20 November 1975) is an Australian musician, best known as a founding member of both The Drones and Tropical Fuck Storm. Musically active since 1997, he has also released a solo album titled ''Strange Tourist'' in 2010. In 2021, Liddiard recorded and performed live with Jim White of the Dirty Three and Chris Abrahams of The Necks as Springtime. The Bennies are an Australian ska punk band from Melbourne, Victoria. Self-described as "Psychedelic Reggae Ska Doom Metal Punk Rock From Hell," the band are known for their high-energy live shows and their mix of genres including dub, punk rock and heavy metal.
