It is a form of the Norman language spoken in Jersey, an island in the Channel Islands archipelago off the coast of France. Bullseye is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. ''The Sorcerer'' is a two-act comic opera, with a libretto by W. S. Gilbert and music by Arthur Sullivan. It was the British duo's third operatic collaboration. The plot of ''The Sorcerer'' is based on a Christmas story, ''An Elixir of Love'', that Gilbert wrote for ''The Graphic'' magazine in 1876. A young man, Alexis, is obsessed with the idea of love levelling all ranks and social distinctions. To promote his beliefs, he invites the proprietor of J. W. Wells & Co., Family Sorcerers, to brew a love potion. This causes everyone in the village to fall in love with the first person they see and results in the pairing of comically mismatched couples. Steve Poindexter (born 1965) is an American house producer and DJ. He is best known for his 1989 track "Work That Mutha Fucker", which is considered to be one of the first Chicago ghetto house tracks. Early life Poindexter was born in 1965. His father was a jazz drummer and his mother was a backup singer for Mahalia Jackson. In 1975, at the age of ten, Poindexter started DJing for Saturday night parties held at Mendel High School on the South Side of Chicago. Career Inspired by Jesse Saunders' "On and On", Poindexter and his cousin John Hunt started experimenting with drum machines and began creating edits to play at parties. Robert Poindexter was a state legislator who served in the Louisiana House of Representatives and Louisiana State Senate during the Reconstruction era. Biography Birth records disagree on his birthplace as being either New York state or Tennessee and he may have been enslaved until 1860. The 1870 census listed him as a New York native aged 38, but 1869 bank records list him as 47 and from Sullivan County, Tennessee. The bank records also list his service in the Union Army during the American Civil War in Company F of the 78th Regiment Infantry U.S. Colored Troops. He was a member of the 1868 Louisiana constitutional convention representing Assumption Parish, Louisiana. Robert Poindexter (September 25, 1897 – June 8, 1930), nicknamed "Roy", was an American Negro league pitcher in the 1920s. Poindexter made his Negro leagues debut in 1924 with the Birmingham Black Barons. He went on to play for the Chicago American Giants during their 1926 Colored World Series championship season. Pony Poindexter
Norwood "Pony" Poindexter (February 8, 1926, New Orleans, Louisiana – April 14, 1988, Oakland, California) was an American jazz saxophonist. Poindexter began on clarinet and switched to playing alto and tenor sax. In 1940 he studied under Sidney Desvigne, and following World War II attended the newly founded Candell Conservatory of Music in Oakland, California. From 1947 to 1950 he played with Billy Eckstine. In 1950 he played in a quartet with Vernon Alley. From 1951 to 1952, he was with Lionel Hampton and in 1952 he played with Stan Kenton. Neal Hefti wrote the tune "Little Pony", named after Poindexter, for the Count Basie Orchestra. Through the end of the 1950s Poindexter played extensively both as a leader and as a sideman, recording with Charlie Parker, Nat King Cole, T-Bone Walker, and Jimmy Witherspoon.
