Pogoń Oleśnica
Pogoń Oleśnica is a Polish multi-sports club based in Oleśnica, Poland. It was founded in 1945. The team's official colors are white, blue and amaranth red. The club is best known for their football team that played at the second level of Polish association football during the 1994/95 season. History The club was established on 12 May 1945 and is, therefore, the oldest Polish sports club in Lower Silesia. Originally called ''Kolejarz'', the current name was adopted after a merger with ''Włókniarz'' by the end of 1955. League history In 1983, the Pogoń football team was promoted to the third division, where the club spent the next 6 seasons. Pogoń was relegated in 1989 but the team won promotion back to the third level one year later. In 1994, the club finished first in the third division winning promotion to the ''II liga''. Oleśnica
Oleśnica (pronounced ; german: Oels; szl, Ôleśnica) is a town in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland, within the Wrocław metropolitan area. It is the administrative seat of Oleśnica County and also of the rural district of Gmina Oleśnica, although it is not part of the territory of the latter, the town being an urban gmina in its own right. The town is famed for its large 16th-century castle, which has previously been the seat of several dukes and lords. The Polish Cup in football ( pl, Puchar Polski w piłce nożnej ) is an elimination tournament for Polish football clubs, held continuously from 1950, and is the second most important national title in Polish football after the Ekstraklasa title. Due to mass participation of teams, the tournament is often called ''The Cup of the Thousand Teams'' ( pl, Puchar Tysiąca Drużyn ). Participation is open to any club registered with the Polish FA, regardless of whether it competes in any league in the national pyramid. Reserve and veteran teams are also eligible, with reserve teams reaching the final on two occasions (and winning it once).
