''Pogledi'' (Serbian Cyrillic: ''Погледи'', meaning Viewpoints in English) was a Serbia-based magazine devoted to politics and history, published biweekly.''Pogledi'', issue number 70, November 9–23, 1990. YU ISSN 0353-3832 ''Pogledi'' was the first opposition magazine in communist Yugoslavia. In total, 268 issues were published. History In June 1982, ''Pogledi'' began as a student magazine at the University of Kragujevac. It was the brainchild of Miloslav Samardžić. The first issue was about Josip Broz Tito. The magazine made national headlines on 1 March 1989 when it was the first media outlet in Serbia to publish that President Harry S. Truman posthumously awarded Draža Mihailović the Legion of Merit. In 1990, ''Pogledi'' became the most read magazine in the country with a circulation of 200,000. That same year ''Pogledi'' split from the university and became an independent publishing house. Miloslav Samardžić
Miloslav Samardžić ( sr-Cyrl, Милослав Самарџић; born 22 November 1963) is a Serbian writer who writes about contemporary Serbian and Balkan history. He is the owner of the publishing house and former magazine ''Pogledi''. Biography Samardžić was born on 22 November 1963 in Aleksandrovac where he completed elementary and high school (studying journalism). He graduated from the University of Kragujevac Faculty of Economics in 1989 (the marketing program). As a student, he completed the '' Večernje novosti'' journalist school in 1984 and became a correspondent from Kragujevac for the newspaper. He arrived at ''Pogledi'' (then a student newspaper of the University of Kragujevac) in 1984. Biljana Srbljanović ( sr-cyr, Биљана Србљановић, ; born 15 October 1970) is a Serbian playwright and university professor. She has written eleven theater plays and screenplay for '' Otvorena vrata'' television series that aired on Radio Television of Serbia during the mid-1990s. Her plays have been staged in some 50 countries. Srbljanović is also a part-time lecturer at the University of Arts' Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDU) in Belgrade. Dejan Stojanović ( sr, Дејан Стојановић, ; born 11 March 1959) is a Serbian poet, writer, essayist, philosopher, businessman, and former journalist. His poetry is characterized by a recognizable system of thought and poetic devices, bordering on philosophy, and, overall, it has a highly reflective tone. According to the critic Petar V. Momčilo "Momo" Kapor ( sr-cyr, Момчило Момо Капор; 8 April 1937 – 3 March 2010) was a Serbian novelist and painter. He authored several screenplays, over forty novels, short stories, travel and autobiographic books and essays. He was introduced to the literary circles as the author of radio, TV and theater drama at the beginning of the sixties. His books have been translated to twenty languages. Dragoslav Bokan
Dragoslav Bokan (, ; born 15 February 1961) is a Serbian film director, writer, politician and former paramilitary commander. Biography Bokan was born in the Savski Venac area of Belgrade on 15 February 1961 to Serb parents Ilija and Milka (née Devetak). Several of his family members (including his maternal grandfather and great-grandfather) were killed at the Jasenovac concentration camp by the Ustashe, as part of an extermination campaign of Serbs during World War II. Bokan graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts at age 22. Dragoš Kalajić ( sr-Cyrl, Драгош Калајић; 22 February 1943 – 22 July 2005) was a Serbian painter, philosopher and writer. Early life and education Dragoš Kalajić was born on 22 February 1943 in Belgrade. Dragoš's father Velimir Kalajić was a Chetnik military judge, his mother Tatjana Kalajić ( ''née'' Parenta) taught mathematics at the Faculty of Mining and Geology, University of Belgrade. Vukašin Šoškoćanin
Vukašin Šoškoćanin ( sr-cyr, Вукашин Шошкоћанин, ; 24 June 1958 – 15 May 1991) was a Croatian Serb war commander active during the Croatian War. Biography Born to Milan and Ljubica Šoškoćanin on 24 June 1958, Vukašin had two brothers, Radovan and Dušan. He became a member of the Serb Democratic Party in 1990. He was a veterinary technician in Vukovar. Šoškoćanin was president of the Borovo commune and commander of the Borovo Selo Territorial Defense Force during the Croatian War, most notably during the Battle of Borovo Selo. Death and legacy On 15 May 1991 at around 10:30 AM, while returning from a visit to a refugee camp in Vojvodina, he died by drowning in the Danube river in a "boating accident." Nikola Milošević (politician)
Nikola Milošević, PhD (Serbian Cyrillic: Никола Милошевић; 17 April 1929 – 24 January 2007) was a Serbian writer, political philosopher, literary critic, and politician. He graduated from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philosophy. He was professor of Literary Theory at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philology since 1969. He became a correspondent member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in 1983 and a full member in 1994. He was president of the Miloš Crnjanski Endowment in Belgrade. Slobodan "Danko" Popović (Serbian Cyrillic: Слободан Данко Поповић; 19 August 1928 – 7 August 2009) was a Serbian writer, playwright and screenwriter. Popović was born in Aranđelovac, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. Radomir Mihailović (Serbian Cyrillic: Радомир Михаиловић; born 13 June 1950), also known as Točak (''wheel'' in English) is a Serbian guitarist. He is best known as the guitarist for the Serbian and formerly Yugoslav Smak. Biography Mihailović was born on 13th of July, 1950, in Čačak, Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia.
