Podilsk Raion
Podilsk Raion ( uk, Подільський район; ro, Raionul Bârzula), known until 2015 as Kotovsk Raion ( uk, Котовський район), is a raion (district) in Odesa Oblast of Ukraine. Its administrative center is the town of Podilsk. Population: On 18 July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, the number of raions of Odesa Oblast was reduced to seven, and the area of Podilsk Raion was significantly expanded. On 21 May 2016, Verkhovna Rada adopted decision to rename Kotovsk Raion to Podilsk Raion and Kotovsk to Podilsk according to the law prohibiting names of Communist origin. Raions Of Ukraine
Raions of Ukraine (often translated as "districts"; Ukrainian: ра́йон, tr. ''raion''; plural: райо́ни, tr. ''raiony'') are the second level of administrative division in Ukraine, below the oblast. Raions were created in a 1922 administrative reform of the Soviet Union, to which Ukraine, as the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, belonged. On 17 July 2020, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine's parliament) approved an administrative reform to merge most of the 490 raions, along with the "cities of regional significance", which were previously outside the raions, into just 136 reformed raions. Podilsk ( uk, Поді́льськ, ; ro, Bârzula or ), until May 2016 Kotovsk ( uk, Котовськ, Russian: Котовск) is a city in Odesa Oblast, southern Ukraine. Administratively, Podilsk is incorporated as a town of oblast significance. It also serves as the administrative center of Podilsk Raion, one of twenty-six districts of Odesa Oblast, though it is not a part of the district. It had a population of . In 2001, it had a population of 40,718. It is the largest city in the northern part of Odesa Oblast. History Birzula was first mentioned in Turkish documents in 1772 as one of the settlements of the Dubossar raya. The Russian-Italian physicist Gleb Wataghin was born in Birzula in 1899. Okny Hromada
Okny ( uk, Окни, russian: Окны) is an urban-type settlement in the west of Odesa Oblast, Ukraine. It served as the administrative center of Okny Raion. Population: Okny is located on the banks of the Yahorlik River, a left tributary of the Dniester. History Okny was founded in the end of the 18th century by Moldovan settlers. The area was settled after 1792, when the lands between the Southern Bug and the Dniester were transferred to Russia according to the Iasi Peace Treaty. The area was included in Tiraspol Uyezd, which belonged to Yekaterinoslav Viceroyalty until 1795, Voznesensk Viceroyalty until 1796, Novorossiya Governorate until 1803, and Kherson Governorate until 1920. In 1834, the area was transferred to newly established Ananyiv Uyezd. In 1919, Okny was renamed Krasni Okny. Kódyma ( uk, Ко́дима, ; ro, Codâma) is a city in Odesa Oblast (region) of central Ukraine, located in the historic region of Podolia, south-eastern Podilia. Population: Description Kodyma is named after a river Kodyma, on which it is located. On maps of the 16th century of Wenceslaus Grodecki there is a region identified as "Codima solitudo, uastissima" (a very vast desert). The area is located around the mid-stream of Southern Bug.
