Pleizenhausen is an ''Ortsgemeinde'' – a municipality belonging to a '' Verbandsgemeinde'', a kind of collective municipality – in the Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis ( district) in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It belongs to the ''Verbandsgemeinde'' Simmern-Rheinböllen, whose seat is in Simmern. Geography Location The municipality lies in the Hunsrück, roughly 5 km northeast of Simmern. The residential village also lies just west of the junction of two valleys, the Simmerbachtal and the Wahlbachtal, and about a kilometre east of the Simmern-Koblenz road. At the nearby ''Weißmühle'' (“White Mill”), three brooks, the Simmerbach, Benzweilerbach and Wahlbach, all meet and flow together. The Geiersberg to the northeast stands as a prominent peak between the Simmerbach and Benzweilerbach valleys and stands out quite clearly on a relief map. Rayerschied is an ''Ortsgemeinde'' – a municipality belonging to a '' Verbandsgemeinde'', a kind of collective municipality – in the Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis ( district) in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis is a district (german: Kreis) in the middle of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The neighbouring districts are (from north clockwise) Mayen-Koblenz, Rhein-Lahn, Mainz-Bingen, Bad Kreuznach, Birkenfeld, Bernkastel-Wittlich, Cochem-Zell. History The district was created in 1969, when the districts of St. Goar and Simmern were merged. In 2014 it was expanded with the municipalities Lahr, Mörsdorf and Zilshausen, previously part of Cochem-Zell. The Electoral Palatinate (german: Kurpfalz) or the Palatinate (), officially the Electorate of the Palatinate (), was a state that was part of the Holy Roman Empire. Roman roads ( la, viae Romanae ; singular: ; meaning "Roman way") were physical infrastructure vital to the maintenance and development of the Roman state, and were built from about 300 BC through the expansion and consolidation of the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. They provided efficient means for the overland movement of armies, officials, civilians, inland carriage of official communications, and trade goods.
