Brighton Charter Township is a charter township of Livingston County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the township population was 19,144. The township is bordered on the southwest by the city of Brighton, but the two are administered autonomously. Communities * The city of Brighton is located adjacent to the township, but is administratively autonomous. * Pleasant Valley was a rural post office in the southeast of the township. Elijah Marsh was the first postmaster of the office, which operated from July 24, 1837, until July 29, 1852. Marsh was succeeded by Peter Delamater and then by Melzer Bird. Geography The township is in the southeastern part of Livingston County and is bordered to the east by Oakland County. The Interstate 96 and U.S. Route 23 cross in the southwest part of the township. Pipestone Township is a civil township of Berrien County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,312 at the 2010 census. The township was organized on February 16, 1842. History The first settler in the township was James Kirk, who moved with his family to Niles, Michigan, in 1833 and then established a residence in Pipestone in April 1837. In the fall of 1837, Dr. Morgan Enos moved from Bainbridge Township and settled at a point that became known as "Shanghai Corners", because, according to local history, Dr. Enos was the first to bring Shanghai chickens into the township. Joab Enos, a brother of Dr. Enos, moved into the township in 1838. He and William Boughton laid out a village known first as "Pipestone", and later as "Shanghai". Although only a few lots were sold, a post office was established in the village in 1846, and later there was a store operated by John Garrow. Pleasant Valley, (Cooksville, Maryland)
Located Cooksville near Sykesville in Howard County, Maryland, United States, Pleasant Valley, known as Lost by Neglect. The historic house is located on a portion of the 100-acre land grant named "Good Neighborhood" surveyed by Adam Shipley in 1742. In 1754, the section was part of a 103-acre land grant surveyed by Mordecai Selby Sr. called "Selby's Inheritance" and resurveyed as a 226-acre lot in 1775 as "Lost by Neglect". The original structure was built with stone construction in 1754. In 1859, a wooden addition was built by Henry Forsythe and given the name Pleasant Valley. In 1888 Henry Forsythe moved to the neighboring "Oaklands" plantation, leaving the estate in the hands of his heirs. Outbuilding include two barns, one of which was built with peg construction situated on land that has been subdivided from the estate. Pleasant Valley is a small valley in Washington County, Maryland, United States. Geography The valley is bound by South Mountain to the east, Elk Ridge to the west and the Potomac River to the south. To the north the valley opens up to connect with the Hagerstown Valley near Boonsboro. The northern definition of Pleasant Valley is the watershed divide between the Israel Creek and the Little Antietam Creek, both tributaries of the Potomac River. This northern watershed boundary lies to the north of the little town of Gapland (on Israel Creek) and to the south of Rohrersville (a town in the Little Antietam Creek drainage area). Geographically the valley is an extension of the Between the Hills valley south of the Potomac in Virginia.
