The City Center District is an area in north-central downtown Dallas, Texas ( USA). It lies south of the Arts District, north of the Main Street District, northwest of Deep Ellum, southwest of Bryan Place and east of the West End Historic District. The district contains a large concentration of downtown commercial space which prior to 1950 had been concentrated along Main Street. The district also contains remnants of Theatre Row, the historical entertainment area along Elm Street which contained theatres such as the Majestic Theatre. Pearl Street/Arts District station (formerly Pearl station) is a DART Light Rail station located in Dallas, Texas. It is located on Bryan Street, east of Pearl Street, in the City Center District. It opened June 14, 1996, and is the easternmost station on the trunk line segment shared by the Red, Blue, Green and Orange Lines, serving the Plaza of the Americas, the Sheraton Dallas Hotel, 2001 Bryan Tower, the San Jacinto Tower, the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center and JPMorgan Chase Tower. Pearl station was the original northern terminus of the Red and Blue lines before they were extended (Red in 1997 and Blue in 1999). Dallas Pedestrian Network
The Dallas Pedestrian Network or Dallas Pedway is a system of grade-separated walkways covering thirty-six city blocks of Downtown Dallas, Texas, United States. The system connects buildings, garages and parks through tunnels and above-ground skybridges. The network contains an underground city of shops, restaurants and offices during weekday business hours. The underground network was the idea of Montreal urban planner Vincent Ponte, who was also responsible for Montreal's Underground City. Skybridges
A skyway, skybridge, skywalk, or sky walkway is an elevated type of pedway connecting two or more buildings in an urban area, or connecting elevated points within mountainous recreational zones. Urban skyways very often take the form of enclosed or covered footbridges that protect pedestrians from the weather. Open-top modern skyways in mountains now often have glass bottoms. Sometimes enclosed urban skywalks are made almost totally from glass, including ceilings, walls and floors. Also, some urban skyways function strictly as linear parks designed for walking. Bryan Tower
The Bryan Tower is a skyscraper in Dallas, Texas. The building rises . It contains 40 floors, and was completed in 1973. The Bryan Tower currently stands as the 19th-tallest building in the city. The architect who designed the building was Neuhaus & Taylor. The building is known for its distinctive gold-tinted windows and the steel beams that run up and down the building. In 1998, Randall D. Smith acquired the Bryan Tower, and his son Caleb Smith oversaw the renovation for his father's company Spire Realty, which he now runs. Chase Tower (Dallas)
Chase Tower is a , 55-story postmodern skyscraper at 2200 Ross Avenue in the City Center District of downtown Dallas, Texas. Although it is the fourth tallest skyscraper in the city, if one were to exclude antennas and spires, it would be the third. It is also the 12th tallest building in Texas. The building was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and was completed in 1987. The building also houses the Dallas Petroleum Club, a business and social club located on the 39th and 40th floors. This building is known for its unique architecture which includes a curved glass top and a 6-story hole in the center of the building near the top and is nicknamed the "Keyhole Building" by some people.
