Playa Punta Arenas
Playa Punta Arenas is the most western tip of Margarita Island. It is a fine white sand beach and home for many of the local fishermen. The fishermen's huts extend along a beach which leads to a sandy point which gives its name to both the village and the beach. The beach extends along with calm and clear waters and a few trees. Punta Arenas (; historically Sandy Point in English) is the capital city of Chile's southernmost region, Magallanes and Antarctica Chilena. The city was officially renamed as Magallanes in 1927, but in 1938 it was changed back to "Punta Arenas". Macanao Peninsula
The Macanao Peninsula is a geographic peninsula landform, that forms the western end of the Isla Margarita in the Caribbean Sea, in northern Venezuela. It is also a Venezuelan municipality, the Municipality of Macanao Peninsula (''Municipio Península de Macanao''), in the state of Nueva Esparta. The municipal seat is Boca de Río. Geography The peninsula is connected to the rest of Isla Margarita by a thin strip of land in Laguna de la Restinga National Park. Sixty years ago, it was an island.
