Play The Percentages
''Play the Percentages'' is an American game show hosted by Geoff Edwards which aired in syndication from January 7 to September 12, 1980. Jay Stewart announced for the first six weeks, after which Bob Hilton became the permanent announcer. The game changed format several times over its short run, but all forms involved some variation on asking questions with percentage answers or statistics. Gameplay Couples format Two married couples competed. One contestant from each couple was asked to estimate what percentage of 300 people answered a specific question correctly. Whoever was closest to the actual percentage, high or low, scored the actual percentage points. If both contestants guessed the same percentage, either contestant was given the option to change their estimate. The contestant who scored the points could then either answer the question (without conferring with his or her spouse) or challenge his or her opponent to answer. Geoff Edwards
Geoffrey Bruce Owen Edwards (February 13, 1931 – March 5, 2014) was an American television actor, game show host, and radio personality. Starting in the early 2000s, he was also a writer and broadcaster on the subject of travel. Background Prior to his media career, Edwards was an accomplished musician, playing drums in a number of jazz bands. Edwards began his career while attending Duke University, working for a radio station in Albany, New York. In 1959, Edwards got his first job at KFMB-AM in San Diego, hosting an evening show and co-hosting the ''Don Ross/Geoff Edwards Show''. As a news reporter for KHJ-AM radio, Edwards was present in the basement of Dallas police headquarters when Jack Ruby shot suspected John F. Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald on November 24, 1963. Jay Stewart Fix (September 6, 1918 – September 17, 1989), known professionally as Jay Stewart, was an American television and radio announcer known primarily for his work on game shows. He was probably best known as the announcer on the long running game show ''Let's Make a Deal'', in which he appeared throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Other shows for which he announced regularly include the Reg Grundy productions ''Scrabble'' and ''Sale of the Century'', as well as the Jack Barry-Dan Enright productions ''The Joker's Wild'', ''Tic-Tac-Dough'' and ''Bullseye''. Barry & Enright Productions (also known as either Jack Barry-Dan Enright Productions or Jack Barry & Dan Enright Productions and known as Barry, Enright & Friendly Productions) was a United States television production company that was formed in 1947 by Jack Barry and Dan Enright.
