''Play Deep'' is the debut studio album by English rock band The Outfield, released on 12 August 1985 by Columbia Records. The album received widespread popularity with the success of their debut single, "Say It Isn't So" (a regional number-one hit), which reached number 18 on the U.S. rock chart, and the follow up single, " Your Love", reached number 6 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1986. ''Play Deep'' peaked at number 9 on the U.S. albums chart and was later certified double Platinum. In total, four of the tracks reached the charts: the aforementioned two, along with "Everytime You Cry" and " All the Love". The singles, "Your Love" and "All the Love", reached numbers 83 and 96, respectively, on the UK Singles Chart. The Outfield
The Outfield were an English rock band based in London, England. The band achieved success in the mid-1980s and are best remembered for their hit single, " Your Love". The band's lineup consisted of guitarist John Spinks, vocalist and bassist Tony Lewis, and drummer Alan Jackman. They had an unusual experience for a British band in that they enjoyed commercial success in the US, but never in their homeland. The band began recording during the mid-1980s, and released their first album, ''Play Deep'', in 1985 through Columbia Records. Biography Marino was born on April 15, 1947, in the New York City borough The Bronx. He attended Christopher Columbus High School there and learned to play the saxophone and bass fiddle in the high school band and was classically trained on guitar. Marino broke into the music business as a guitarist playing rock and roll in local New York City bands such as The Chancellors and The New Sounds Ltd. until most of the band members were drafted into the service for the war in Vietnam. In 1967, Marino landed his first job in the industry as a librarian and assistant at Capitol Studios. Reginald William "Reg" Webb (17 May 1947 – 28 January 2018) was an English musician and singer-songwriter. He achieved success not only with his own band Fusion (which later became The Reg Webb Band and featured a young Nik Kershaw, Kenn Elson and Alan Clarke), but also touring with Lenny Kravitz, The Outfield, Suzi Quatro, Vanessa Paradis and others. Tony Lewis (21 December 195719 October 2020) was an English singer and musician. He was the lead singer and bassist of the pop-rock band The Outfield, best known for their hit single " Your Love". After a long career with that band, Lewis began work as a solo artist, releasing his first album ''Out of the Darkness'' in 2018 on Madison Records. Early life Lewis was born on 21 December 1957 in the East End of London and grew up in a tough, working-class neighbourhood. John Frederick Spinks (28 November 1953 − 9 July 2014) was an English songwriter and musician. He was best known as the guitarist and songwriter for The Outfield. Early life and career John Spinks was born on the East End of London in November 1953. Spinks, Tony Lewis, and Alan Jackman first played together in the 1970s band Sirius B. After rehearsing for six months, the group disbanded due to the advent of punk rock. In the 1980s, Spinks recorded several demos under the name Baseball Boys, a name chosen because it closely resembled a gang called The Baseball Furies from the film '' The Warriors''. "Just to be outrageous, I put what I felt was a stupid name on the demos," said Spinks, "and the people I took them to said, `Sounds great. Can we see the band?` And there wasn't really a band."
