Platinum High School
''Platinum High School'' is a 1960 American crime drama romance film directed by Charles Haas and starring Mickey Rooney, Terry Moore and Dan Duryea. It was based on the 1960 novel of the same name by Irving Shulman. Plot Sailing to a coastal California island, Steven Conway sets out to find out what caused the mysterious death of his son. Denied food and lodging at his first two stops, Conway goes to a remote and elite military school on Sabre Island. The school is run by Major Redfern Kelly, whose secretary Jennifer Evans wonders why it took Conway four months to come inquire about his son. Conway explains that he had been in Pakistan the past few months on a business project and only recently found out that the boy's mother, now deceased, had sent him to this exclusive academy with the $10,000 tuition. Yvette Carmen Mimieux (January 8, 1942 – January 18, 2022) was an American film and television actress. Her breakout role was in '' The Time Machine'' (1960). She was nominated for three Golden Globe Awards during her acting career. Early life and career Mimieux was born in Los Angeles, California, on January 8, 1942, to René Mimieux, who was French, and Maria Montemayor, who was Mexican. Mimieux had at least two siblings, a sister, Gloria, and a brother Edouardo. Her career was launched after a talent manager, Jim Byron, suggested she become an actress. Her first acting appearances were in episodes of the television shows '' Yancy Derringer'' and ''One Step Beyond'', both in 1959, at the age of 17. Christopher Dark (born Alfred Francis DeLeo, April 21, 1920 – October 10, 1971) was an American actor. He graduated from Cornell University and did post graduate work at Columbia University. He served as an army medic in the Philippines during WWII, and received honors. He began his career in theater in NY, and then moved to Hollywood in 1952. He was a member of the Foreign Film Committee for SAG for most of his career. As well as acting, he also wrote many scripts, including collaborations with Ida Lupino and Christopher Cary. Biography Dark was born in New York. In 1954, Dark played in an episode of the TV series, ''The Lone Ranger'', entitled Texas Draw.
