Platino Awards
The Platino Awards, known in Spanish as Premios Platino del Cine Iberoamericano ("Platinum Prizes of Ibero-American Cinema"), are Ibero-America's annual film awards. The awards were established in 2013, and the first awards ceremony took place on 5 April 2014 at the Teatro Anayasi, Panama City. The ceremony continues to take place annually between April and July, and awards are given to films produced during the previous year. The award itself is a platinum figure with the shape of a woman offering the world with Latin America's map on the center, it was created by designer Javier Mariscal. History To reward the best Ibero-American films of each year, the Entidad de Gestión de Derechos de los Productores Audiovisuales (EGEDA) along with the Federación Iberoamericana de Productores Cinematográficos y Audiovisuales (FIPCA) decided to create the Platino Awards. Ibero-America ( es, Iberoamérica, pt, Ibero-América) or Iberian America is a region in the Americas comprising countries or territories where Spanish language, Spanish or Portuguese language, Portuguese are predominant languages (usually former colony, territories of Portugal or Spain). The 1st Platino Awards were presented at the Teatro Anayasi in Panama City, Panama on April 5, 2014 to honour the best in Ibero-American films of 2013. Nominations were announced on 13 March 2014. Platino Honorary Award
The Platino Honorary Award (Spanish: ''Premio Platino de Honor del Cine Iberoamericano'') is an honorary award given annually at the Platino Awards, presented by the Entidad de Gestión de Derechos de los Productores Audiovisuales (EGEDA) and the Federación Iberoamericana de Productores Cinematográficos y Audiovisuales (FIPCA). The award is presented to recognize recognize the professional career of a person linked to the field of film, arts and Ibero-American culture. It was first presented in 2014 at the 1st Platino Awards, first edition of the awards, with Brazilian actress Sônia Braga being the first recipient of the award. The category was first awarded at the 4th Platino Awards in 2017 expanding the categories from awarding only cinema to also television productions. Spanish crime series ''Four Seasons in Havana'' was the first recipient of the award. Since the creation of the category, no series has won more than once.
