''Plate of Origin'' (abbreviated as POO) was an Australian competitive cooking game show that was broadcast on the Seven Network. Celebrity chef Manu Feildel hosts the series alongside former ''MasterChef Australia'' judges chef Gary Mehigan and food critic Matt Preston. The series is described as ''"The World Cup of Cooking"'' or ''"Country of Origin on a Plate"', ''with teams competing by cooking international food cuisines.' The series was originally conceived and marketed as a spin-off edition of successful cooking game show ''My Kitchen Rules'' but was later developed as a separate program. Gary Mehigan
Gary Mehigan (born 12 February 1967) is an English-Australian chef and restaurateur. Mehigan was one of the original judges of the Network 10 series '' MasterChef Australia''. Career Chef Mehigan trained at The Connaught and Le Souffle in London before moving to Melbourne in 1991. He has headed the kitchen in some of Melbourne's most prominent restaurants including Browns, Burnham Beeches Country House and Hotel Sofitel before opening the award-winning Fenix in 2000 and later selling it to the Leonda by the Yarra group in 2013. He formerly co-owned The Boathouse in the Melbourne suburb Moonee Ponds. He was selected as one of the entrants to the 2012 edition of ''Who's Who in Australia''. The Hotplate
''The Hotplate'' was an Australian cooking reality television series which aired on the Nine Network on 28 July 2015. The show consisted of state-based restaurants with teams travelling the country to dine in and score each other's restaurants. The restaurants were judged by British food writer and critic, Tom Parker Bowles and Melbourne restaurateur, Scott Pickett. The show pit six established suburban restaurants against each other all striving for a leg up in the industry—and an extra $100,000 in the bank, Sydney's Guillaume Brahimi, the French-born chef, appeared as a special guest judge during all elimination episodes.
