Planet Of The Spiders
''Planet of the Spiders'' is the fifth and final serial of the 11th season of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in six weekly parts on BBC1 from 4 May to 8 June 1974. It was Jon Pertwee's final regular appearance as the Third Doctor, the last regular appearance of Mike Yates, and marks the first, uncredited appearance of Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor. This serial introduces the term "regeneration" to explain the Doctor's transformation into another appearance. The serial is set in England and on the planet Metebelis Three. In the serial, the fired salesman Lupton (John Dearth) allies with a race of psychic spiders called the Eight-Legs to gain power. Walter Randall
Walter Randall (26 June 1929 – 5 May 2006) was a British dancer turned actor with numerous roles in British television, including parts in ''The Saint'', '' Out of This World'', ''Yes Minister'', '' The Professionals'' and ''Dixon of Dock Green''. His film appearances included roles in '' The Hand'' (1960) and '' Tiffany Jones'' (1973). He appeared in the ''Doctor Who'' story ''The Aztecs'' in 1964, and was interviewed for the DVD release in 2002. Five further appearances on the programme followed, the last of which was ''Planet of the Spiders'' in 1974. In their positive review of '' The Crusade'', the ''Radio Times'' wrote "Walter Randall's El Akir is the most sinister character in the series to date." In addition to acting, Randall ran a restaurant in Chelsea. Phyllis Edith Mary Blythe (13 February 1912 – 31 October 2001), known professionally as Jenny Laird, was a British stage, film and television actress. Early life and education Born in Manchester, Laird and her parents moved to the south, and she was educated at Maidstone grammar school and London University. She worked briefly as an advertising copywriter while studying acting with teachers such as the Central School's legendary Elsie Fogerty and in 1937 she made her repertory debut at the Brixton Theatre in '' A Bill of Divorcement''. Alan Leonard Hunt (7 February 1942 – 14 March 2007), known as Gareth Hunt, was a British actor best remembered for playing footman Frederick Norton in '' Upstairs, Downstairs'' and Mike Gambit in '' The New Avengers''. Early life Alan Leonard Hunt was born in Battersea, London, in 1942. His father was killed in the Second World War when he was two years old, and he was brought up by his mother, Doris, and his stepfather. At the age of 15, he joined the Merchant Navy. Stuart Fell is a professional actor and stuntman. Prior to this career, Fell served in the Parachute Regiment. He has appeared on British television many times, with his earliest role being in the LWT comedy series '' Hark at Barker'', in which he plays the driver of a car that crashes when he's distracted by Ronnie Barker carrying a mannequin. Michael Pinder (actor)
Michael Thomas Pinder (born 27 December 1941) is an English rock musician, and is a founding member and original keyboard player of the British rock group the Moody Blues. He left the group following the recording of the band's ninth album ''Octave'' in 1978. He is especially noted for his technological contribution to music. Terry Walsh (5 May 1939 – 21 April 2002) was a British actor stuntman, stunt arranger and fight arranger who contributed much to British television and film, especially during the 1970s. He stunt-doubled for Michael Caine, Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker and David Warner amongst others. Walsh is known for his work on the science fiction television programme ''Doctor Who''. He worked on the show from 1966 to 1979. He is seen in this as an Exxilon being shot by the Daleks, filmed in 1973. He was also the stunt co-ordinator for ''Robin of Sherwood'', devising three sword fighting sequences, which subsequently became standard movements on television and film.
