Plandome Road
Plandome Road is a road in Manhasset and the incorporated villages of Plandome, Plandome Heights, and Plandome Manor in the Town of North Hempstead, in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. It serves as a major north–south through street across the west side of the Cow Neck Peninsula, between Northern Boulevard (NY 25A) to the south and Stonytown Road and North Plandome Road to the north, and is the main thoroughfare in downtown Manhasset. The portion of Plandome Road within the Incorporated Village of Plandome Heights is maintained by the Nassau County Department of Public Works as unsigned County Route D92. At its north end, Plandome Road becomes North Plandome Road, which extends north to Main Street in Port Washington. North Hempstead, New York
North Hempstead is one of three towns in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 237,639 at the 2020 census. History The area was first settled by Europeans around 1643 and became part of the town of Hempstead. During the American Revolution the southern part of Hempstead was primarily Tory, while the northern part, having been settled by Yankees, supported the revolution. Following the war, the Town of North Hempstead was split off in 1784. North Hempstead became more affluent with the opening of the Long Island Rail Road through to Great Neck, and the inauguration of steamboat service from Manhattan in 1836. North Hempstead Town Hall is a historic town hall building located on Plandome Road in Manhasset in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. Description The building serves as the main administrative building for the Town of North Hempstead. The original section was built in 1906–1907. Flanking additions were built in 1926-1928 and the large rear extension was completed in 1955. The Manhasset Union Free School District, also known as Manhasset Public Schools, is a public school district serving the Greater Manhasset area of Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York. The district is a Union Free School District covering all K–12 grades, and is District No. 6 of North Hempstead, New York. History The congregation was first founded as the Jewish Reconstructionist Society of New York in the 1950s by a group of socially-concerned and involved Jewish families. In the 1970s, the society purchased an old mansion for $137,000 on Glenwood Road in Roslyn Harbor, New York with the intention of using it as a synagogue.
