Plaktiniai (formerly russian: Плахтыни, pl, Płachtynie) is a village in Kėdainiai district municipality, in Kaunas County, in central Lithuania. According to the 2011 census, the village had a population of 8 people. It is located from Josvainiai, by the Josvainiai- Vainikai road and the Žiedupė river. The Šušvė Landscape Sanctuary is located next to Plaktiniai. Žiedupė
The Žiedupė (or ''Žiedupys'') is a river of Kėdainiai district municipality, Kaunas County, central Lithuania. It flows for and has a basin area of . It is a left tributary of the river Šušvė. It begins north to Josvainiai, nearby Šingaliai village. It flows mostly southwards and meets the Šušvė nearby Plaktiniai village. Josvainiai village, Pažiedupys and Plaktiniai are located on the banks of the Žiedupė. Josvainiai Eldership ( lt, Josvainių seniūnija) is a Lithuanian eldership, located in the southern part of Kėdainiai District Municipality. Eldership was created from the Josvainiai ''selsovet'' in 1993. Geography The territory of Josvainiai Eldership is located mostly in the Nevėžis Plain, but the western edges are in the East Samogitian Plateau. Šušvė Landscape Sanctuary
The Šušvė Landscape Sanctuary ( lt, Šušvės kraštovaizdžio draustinis) is a protected area of a state importance in Josvainiai Eldership, Kėdainiai District Municipality, in central Lithuania. It was established in 1974 and covers an area of . It covers the lower course of the Šušvė river between Macgaliai village and the Šušvė confluence with the Nevėžis river. It also include the lower courses of the Šušvė tributaries the Žiedupė, the Vikšrupis and the Putnupys. The aim of the sanctuary is to protect the Šušvė river valley with outcrops and vimba spawning grounds. The valley is of width, depth, slopes and terraces are covered by bushes and leafy groves. The river course is loopy, there are oxbow lakes. The river flow is rapid, deeply burrows into the earth. There are outcrops of Devonic sand, clay and gypsum. Josvainiai
Josvainiai (formerly pl, Jaswojnie, russian: link=no, Ясвойни, Ясвойне) is a small town in Kėdainiai district, central Lithuania. It is located on the Šušvė River 10 km southwest from Kėdainiai. In the town there is a Catholic All Saints Church, gymnasium, post office and public library, stud farm, culture house. History The toponym ''Josvainiai'' probably derives from the unattested Lithuanian personal name ''*Josvainis''. Historians believe that there was a medieval castle in Josvainiai, and it was attacked by the Teutonic Knights many times. In 1486 Josvainiai was mentioned as a town.
