Pittsburgh Film Office
The Pittsburgh Film Office (PFO) is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to economic development in the Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania region. History Created in 1990 to attract film production projects to the greater Southwestern Pennsylvania region, the Pittsburgh Film Office provides information on the region, locations, vendors and crew, and coordinates interactions between government and business offices in support of film production. In addition, the film office is a conduit for information, providing assistance to local filmmakers and the local film industry throughout Allegheny County and the designated ten county region. Since its creation, the film office has assisted with more than two hundred major feature and television projects, and has reported an economic impact of more than $1.2 billion on southwestern Pennsylvania. Russell Streiner
Russell William Streiner (born February 6, 1940) is an American film producer and actor. He is the older brother of actor/producer Gary Streiner. Career Streiner is perhaps best known for his role as Johnny in ''Night of the Living Dead'' (1968). He was also one of the producers of the film. Streiner has also produced ''There's Always Vanilla'' (1971), ''The Booby Hatch'' (1976), and the remake of ''Night of the Living Dead'' (1990), in which he also has a cameo appearance as Sheriff McClelland. He worked in the advertising field for several years while continuing film, television, commercial, and corporate production work. South Side (Pittsburgh)
South Side (or "Southside") is an area in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, located along the Monongahela River across from Downtown Pittsburgh. The South Side is officially divided into two neighborhoods, South Side Flats and South Side Slopes. Both the Flats and the Slopes are represented on Pittsburgh City Council by Bruce Kraus. Pittsburgh Filmmakers' School of Film, Photography, and Digital Media was a private institution of higher education located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was an accredited film school that was run by Pittsburgh Filmmakers, a well-known regional media arts center and non-profit organization. Three Rivers Film Festival
The Three Rivers Film Festival is an annual film festival, held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is presented by Film Pittsburgh. Founded as part of the Three Rivers Arts Festival in 1981, the first annual festival was June 4, 1982. Thirteen films premiered that year, including the locally shot ''Knightriders'' starring Ed Harris, Patricia Tallman and Tom Savini. In 1993 the festival moved its programming to the fall. The festival briefly reconnected for one year with the Three Rivers Arts Festival in 2018. The festival is the oldest and largest annual film festival in Western Pennsylvania. Downtown Pittsburgh, colloquially referred to as the Golden Triangle, and officially the Central Business District, is the urban downtown center of Pittsburgh. August Wilson Center For African American Culture
The August Wilson African American Cultural Center is a U.S. nonprofit arts organization based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that presents performing and visual arts programs that celebrate the contributions of African Americans not only in Western Pennsylvania, but nationally and internationally. The August Wilson African American Cultural Center building is on Liberty Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District. It includes galleries, classrooms, a 500-seat theater, a gift shop, a cafe, and many multi-purpose spaces for visual and performing art. The museum opened in 2009. North Shore is a neighborhood in Pittsburgh's North Side. It has representation on Pittsburgh City Council by council members for District 1 (North Neighborhoods) and 6 (North Shore/Downtown Neighborhoods). The neighborhood is home to Heinz Field, PNC Park, and The Andy Warhol Museum. It is developing rapidly around and between the two stadiums. Two new light rail stations opened in the spring of 2012.
