Pithavum Kanyakayum
''Pithavum Kanyakayum'' (Malayalam: പിതാവും കന്യകയും; literally meaning ''Father and Virgin''), officially titled in English as ''Daddy, You Bastard'', is a 2013 Malayalam film directed by Rupesh Paul and N. K. Sajiv Menon. The story is about a middle-aged man who spends the night with a girl who happens to be his daughter's classmate. Short story writer Indu Menon has written the story while her husband, Rupesh Paul, has written the script and dialogue for the film. The cast include M. G. Sasi, director of the award-winning film '' Atayalangal'', Krupa and Sasi Kalinga. The film premiered in the Marche du Film section of 2010 Cannes Film Festival. Rupesh Paul
Rupesh Paul is an Indian film director, poet, screenwriter and producer. He is known for his films Kamasutra 3D, Saint Dracula 3D and The Secret Diaries of Monalisa. Early life He graduated in Computer Science Engineering from University of Madras in 2001, and joined as a sub editor with Malayala Manorma and later as a senior correspondent in India Today. Indu Menon
Indu Menon (b. 13 June 1980 ) is an Indian novelist and short story writer. In 2014, he received the Central Sahitya Award for Young Writers. In 2015, India Today selected her as one of India's Upcoming Writers. In 2005, India Today selected her as one of the twenty young talents of Kerala. Some of Indu Menon's stories have been made into films. In 2009, Father and Virgin was screened at the Cannes International Film Festival in France. In 2010, the short film You Can't Step Twice in the Sime River was screened at the River to River Festival in Italy and won an award. ''Atayalangal'' ( en, The Imprints) is a 2008 Malayalam-language biographical drama film directed by M.G. Sasi and produced by Aravind Venugopal under the banner Valluvanadan Talkies. Govind Padmasoorya plays the lead role of autobiographical character of Nandanar (1926–1974), well known for his child literature and philosophical army stories. The film is particularly based on Nandanar's autobiography ''Anubhavangal''. History Set in the backdrop of a Valluvanadan hamlet in Kerala, the film depicts the three different types of hunger of human life: that of body, spirit, and mind. The 63rd Cannes Film Festival was held from 12 to 23 May 2010, in Cannes, France. The Cannes Film Festival, hailed as being one of the most recognized and prestigious film festivals worldwide, was founded in 1946. It consists of having films screened in and out of competition during the festival; films screened in competition compete for the Palme d'Or award. ''The New Indian Express'' is an Indian English-language broadsheet daily newspaper published by the Chennai-based Express Publications. It was founded in 1932 as ''The Indian Express'', under the ownership of Chennai-based P. Varadarajulu Naidu.
