Mount Pisgah (Bible)
Some translators of the Bible, biblical book of Deuteronomy translate ''Pisgah'' ( he, פִּסְגָּה) as a name of a mountain, usually referring to Mount Nebo. The word פִּסְגָּה wikt:%D7%A4%D7%A1%D7%92%D7%94, literally means "summit". The region lies directly east of the Jordan River and just northeast of the Dead Sea. Mount Nebo (31°45.9'N 35°43.1'E) is the highest among a handful of Pisgah summits; an arid cluster of hilltops on the western edge of the Transjordan in the Bible, Trans-Jordanian Plateau. Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI) (pronounced ''perry'') is a non-profit astronomical observatory located in the Pisgah National Forest near Balsam Grove, North Carolina. PARI operates multiple radio telescopes and optical telescopes for research and teaching purposes. The observatory is affiliated with the University of North Carolina system through the Pisgah Astronomical Research and Science Educational Center (PARSEC). Pisgah United Methodist Church
The Pisgah United Methodist Church (also known as the Old Pisgah Church) is a historic church north of Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, United States. It is located southeast of State Road 151 at the end of Pisgah Church Road. On May 3, 1974, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. A Greek Revival style building, the Pisgah United Methodist Church is the oldest remaining Methodist church building in Leon County. The current 1858 structure is the third church to be located on that site. It had a broad front porch preceded the three front doors. The east and west sides of the church have 4 elongated windows. Pisgah Mountain
Pisgah Mountain or Pisgah Ridge (on older USGS maps) is a ridgeline running from Tamaqua to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania (from the Little Schuylkill River water gap to the Lehigh River water gap). It is oriented north-northeast to south-southwest, and its north-side valley is followed by U.S. Route 209 from river gap to river gap. The ridge is a succession of peaks exceeding rising above the boroughs of Lansford, Coaldale, and Tamaqua in the Panther Creek valley. The highest point on Pisgah Mountain is at in the borough of Summit Hill, which sits atop the ridge. Near Summit Hill was the "Sharpe Mountain" (peak) where in 1791 Phillip Ginter is documented as having discovered anthracite, leading to the formation of the Lehigh Coal Mine Company. Pisgah National Forest is a National Forest in the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina. It is administered by the United States Forest Service, part of the United States Department of Agriculture. The Pisgah National Forest is completely contained within the state of North Carolina.
