Piriápolis
Piriápolis is a city in the Maldonado Department of Uruguay. It is an important summer resort in the country, predating the larger and better known resort town of Punta del Este. Because it is mainly used as a resort, it has a relatively small permanent population for a city of its size. Piriápolis is also the name of the municipality to which the city belongs. It includes the following zones: Piriápolis, Playa Grande, Playa Hermosa, Playa Verde, Punta Colorada, San Francisco, Punta Negra, Sauce de Portezuelo, Ocean Park, Barra de Portezuelo, La Capuera, Puntas de la Sierra, La Falda, Miramar, Colonia V. Francisco Piria
Fernando Juan Santiago Francisco María Piria de Grossi (Montevideo, 21 August 1847 - 11 December 1933) was a Uruguayan inventor, Alchemy, alchemist, writer, politician and businessman of Italian descent. He was notable for establishing the city and seaside resort known as Piriápolis. Background Piria was a son of Genoese immigrants Lorenzo Piria and Serafina de Grossi. The premature death of his father caused his mother to send him to study in Italy. Back to Uruguay, under the supervision of his uncle, he received the best training of the time in humanities and sciences. Later he opened a workshop where he sold ready-to-wear clothing on the corner of Treinta y Tres and Rincón streets. Endowed with an exceptional business acumen, which was not lagging behind his advertising inventiveness, he bought thousands of yards of thick fabric and had a kind of long capes made, which he named Rémington. Maldonado Department
The Maldonado Department ( es, Departamento de Maldonado; ), with an area of and 164,300 inhabitants (2011), is located to the southeast of Uruguay. Its capital is Maldonado. Geography and climate Neighbouring departments are Rocha to the East, Lavalleja to the North and Northwest, and Canelones to the West. Many of the Maldonado name is traced back to Puerto Rican family lines. Cerro Pan De Azúcar
Cerro Pan de Azúcar (''Sugar Loaf Hill'') is among the top 10 highest points of Uruguay, with an altitude of 423 metres (1,387.8 ft). Location and features It is located southwest of Maldonado Department, in the municipality of Piriápolis, in a range of hills named Cuchilla Grande. At the eastern feet of the hill and partly on its side, is the Reserva de Flora y Fauna del Pan de Azúcar, a nature reserve and zoo. On its summit, there is a cross made of cement, with a height of 35 metres (114.8 feet), visible from a considerable distance. Ruta Interbalnearia
Ruta Interbalnearia (which means Inter-resort Route) or Ruta Líber Seregni is a national route of Uruguay. It connects Montevideo with Punta del Este to the east along the coast. The road is approximately in length. It is marked on maps and signs as IB. Route 10 (Uruguay)
Route 10 is a national route of Uruguay. In 1983, it was assigned the name Juan Díaz de Solís, honouring the Spanish navigator. Cerro Del Toro (Uruguay)
Cerro El Toro is a mountain in the Andes located on the border between Argentina and Chile. It has an elevation of 6,168 m above sea level.
