The Pirate Party ( da, Piratpartiet) is a political party in Denmark. The party is modelled on the Swedish Pirate Party. The party's chairman is Ole Husgaard. On 28 September 2009, the party name was approved by the Danish electoral authorities. The party's next step is to gain 20,000 supporters to allow it to contest the election. The Pirate Party ( fi, Piraattipuolue, sv, Piratpartiet) is a registered political party in Finland. The group currently has around 173 paying members. The chairman of the party is Riikka Nieminen. The party is a member of Pirate Parties International and European Pirate Party. History In January 2008, Matti Hiltunen registered the domain ''piraattipuolue.fi'' and set up a BBS on the site. In May 2008, about 50 founding members of the party held the founding assembly in Tampere. In September 2008 the party started to collect the 5,000 needed to officially register the party. The party's goal was to take part in the 2009 European Parliamentary election. The supporter cards were collected by 1 June 2009, too late for the elections. The Pirate Party of Canada (french: Parti Pirate du Canada; PPCA) was a minor party in federal Canadian politics. Founded in 2009, the party officially registered with Elections Canada in 2010. In 2011-12, the party succeeded in attaining a high enough vote share to enter four state parliaments (Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saarland and Schleswig-Holstein) and the European Parliament. However, their popularity rapidly declined and by 2017 they had no representation in any of the German state parliaments. Their one European MEP, Patrick Breyer, is in the Greens–European Free Alliance group. The Senate (), literally "Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic", is the upper house of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. The seat of the Senate is Wallenstein Palace in Prague. Structure The Senate has 81 members, chosen in single-seat constituencies through the two-round system. The Pirate Party of Greece ( el, Κόμμα Πειρατών Ελλάδας) is a political party in Greece. Based on the model of the Swedish Pirate Party, it supports reform of copyright law, the abolition of patents, and respect for privacy.
