Pippi In The South Seas (book)
''Pippi in the South Seas'' is a 1948 sequel to Astrid Lindgren's classic children's books, ''Pippi Longstocking'' and '' Pippi Goes on Board''. It is set sometime after the events of the original book and centers around Pippi's further misadventures and experiences, but also Pippi's theory that the reason for her father's mysterious disappearance that he was hailed as king of an island of natives is confirmed as true. Plot Pippi Longstocking, a little girl meets a stubborn billionaire, who tries to buy Villa Villekulla, her home, and dismisses her as ugly and ridiculous. She also looks for a thing called a 'spink" and irritating a rich woman known as Ms.Rosenbloom, who gives the good pupils a Gold coin and a bag of Candy. She also soon receives word from her father, a sea captain who had seemingly vanished earlier, inviting her to a tropical island inhabited by natives over which he now reigns as king. Astrid Lindgren
Astrid Anna Emilia Lindgren (; ; 14 November 1907 – 28 January 2002) was a Swedish writer of fiction and screenplays. She is best known for several children's book series, featuring Pippi Longstocking, Emil of Lönneberga, Karlsson-on-the-Roof, and the Six Bullerby Children (''Children of Noisy Village'' in the US), and for the children's fantasy novels '' Mio, My Son'', ''Ronia the Robber's Daughter'', and '' The Brothers Lionheart''. Lindgren worked on the Children's Literature Editorial Board at the Rabén & Sjögren publishing house in Stockholm and wrote more than 30 books for children. Pippi Longstocking
Pippi Longstocking ( sv, Pippi Långstrump) is the fictional main character in an eponymous series of children's books by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. Pippi was named by Lindgren's daughter Karin, who asked her mother for a get-well story when she was off school. Pippi is red-haired, freckled, unconventional and superhumanly strong – able to lift her horse one-handed. She is playful and unpredictable. She often makes fun of unreasonable adults, especially if they are pompous and condescending. Her anger comes out in extreme cases, such as when a man mistreats his horse. Pippi, like Peter Pan, does not want to grow up. She is the daughter of a buccaneer captain and has adventure stories to tell about that, too. Her four best friends are her horse and monkey, and the neighbours' children, Tommy and Annika. Nils Olof "Olle" Hellbom (8 October 1925 – 5 June 1982) was a Swedish film director, producer, and screenwriter. He is most famous for directing films based on novels by Astrid Lindgren. His 1960 film ''Alla vi barn i Bullerbyn'' was entered into the 2nd Moscow International Film Festival. Inger Nilsson
Karin Inger Monica Nilsson (born 4 May 1959) is a Swedish actress and singer. She is a former child actress. She is primarily known for her portrayal of Pippi Longstocking in the Swedish-produced TV series of the same name during 1969 which was compiled, re-dubbed into German and later also in English and many other languages, and released as two feature films in 1969. In 1970, she reprised her role of Pippi in two subsequent feature films. As of 2005, she works as a secretary in Stockholm, occasionally taking small stage roles. Career Nilsson was eight years old when she was cast as Pippi Longstocking. First, she did a TV series and then four feature films. Ingrid Vang Nyman
Ingrid Vang Nyman (21 August 1916 – 13 December 1959) was a Danish illustrator noted for her work on the Pippi Longstocking books of which she was the original illustrator. Despite the worldwide fame of her Pippi illustrations, Vang Nyman did not receive as much recognition from the publication as author Astrid Lindgren, and remains fairly unknown.
