Pipera Metro Station
Pipera is a metro station in Bucharest, located in the Pipera district. Opened on 24 October 1987 as part of the M2 extension from Piața Unirii, it is the northern terminus of the line. The initial scope of the station was to serve the large Pipera industrial estate. Since the end of industry in Romania however, the station is now used by the new business and residential estates established here. RATB tram lines 16 and 36 stop outside the station building. Night bus N125 also stops here. Layout The station has two side platforms. Northbound trains reverse in the sidings to the east of the station which can be seen from the platforms. To make room for them, southbound trains leave as northbound trains arrive. Tunnel walls, as seen from the platforms, describe the life on Romanian pepper farmers, as depicted in the works of orthodox-traditionalist writer Gheorghe Pascovici. Pipera
Pipera village is a neighborhood in Voluntari, Ilfov County, at the northern edge of the city of Bucharest, Romania. Development Until 1995, Pipera was an ordinary village. After that, an "El Dorado" of land transactions began. Plots of land that were US$1/m2 reached in 2005 the US$250/m2. In this time, more than 1,400 houses were built there, transforming Pipera in one of the most expensive residential areas. Between 2002 and 2011, in just ten years, the surface of the residential area doubled in size. Bucharest Pipera Airfield was located in the Pipera neighborhood of Bucharest, Romania, at the northern edge of the city, right next to the town of Voluntari, Ilfov County. Horia Agarici
Horia Agarici (; April 6, 1911 – July 13, 1982) was a Romanian aviator and World War II flying ace. Early life Agarici was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, in the family of Constantin and Valeria, née Russo ( Alecu Russo was a relative of hers). Valeria died in 1914, when Horia was 2 years old. The death of his mother and the remarriage of Constantin to Sofia Cerna, the daughter of a Bucharest lawyer, alienated Horia from his father. Piața Unirii Metro Station
Piața Unirii (''Union Square'') is a major metro station in Bucharest. It is located in the southern part of the city centre, in Union Square (''Piața Unirii'' in Romanian), and it is one of the busiest stations of the Bucharest Metro. It is made up of two terminals, one on the M1 and M3 lines and another on the M2 line, linked by a passage. The M1/M3 station was opened on 19 November 1979 as part of the inaugural section of Bucharest Metro, between Semănătoarea and Timpuri Noi. The M2 station was opened on 24 January 1986 as part of the inaugural section of the line, from Piața Unirii to Depoul IMGB. On 24 October 1987, the line was extended north to Pipera. Bucharest Metro Line M2
M2 () is one of the five lines of metro of the Bucharest Metro. The M2 Line runs from Pipera to Berceni, thus linking the north to the south of the city. The line is the busiest on the system, passing through a multitude of neighbourhoods, and also the only line to serve the centre of the city. History The line was built during the 1980s when the industrial development in Romania was in full swing. A north-south metro line was crucial, seeing as other methods of public transport were very crowded and cars were very rare.
