Pipedown
Pipedown was an American hardcore punk band from Northern California, United States, with radical leftist lyrics. Starting in Grass Valley, California in 1997, their lyrics are often reminiscent of eco-anarchism, especially since they recommended readings such as the Unabomber manifesto and ''Deep Ecology for the 21st Century'' (George Sessions) on their first album ''Enemies of Progress.'' In 2003, Pipedown released ''Mental Weaponry,'' again on A-F Records. Over the course of this group's lifetime, Pipedown took part in over five full U.S. tours and two European tours spanning eight countries; sharing stages with the bands: Anti-Flag, Thrice, The Bouncing Souls, Darkest Hour, The Lawrence Arms, Tsunami Bomb, etc. On July 13, 2005, A-F Records announced Pipedown's breakup. Ean Elliot Clevenger
Ean Elliot Clevenger (also known as Ean Elliot) is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter best known as the former singer and songwriter for A-F Record's political hardcore-punk band Pipedown. Prior to the formation of Pipedown, Clevenger was a vocalist and bassist for the Sublime Records band Silage. He has participated in several North American, European, and Van's Warped Tours with many of his bands including: Pipedown, Silage, Dance For Destruction, NMBRSTTN, and Cruex Lies. He has provided guest vocals on Anti-Flag's albums ''For Blood and Empire'' and ''A Benefit for Victims of Violent Crime''. He is known for the strongly voiced left-leaning political lyrics and imagery within his music. Since the break up of Pipedown in 2005, Ean has been working with several other acts. Anti-Flag is an American punk rock band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The band is known for its left-wing political activism. A-F Records is an American independent record label founded by punk rock band Anti-Flag and based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was created to help expose more political punk bands to a larger audience. The label's offices were damaged when a September 2004 flood hit Pittsburgh. Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. Grass Valley is a city in Nevada County, California, United States. Thrice is an American rock band from Irvine, California, formed in 1998. The group was founded by guitarist/vocalist Dustin Kensrue and lead guitarist Teppei Teranishi while they were in high school. Early in their career, the band was known for melodic hardcore punk music based in heavily distorted guitars, prominent lead guitar lines, and frequent changes in complex time signatures. The Bouncing Souls
The Bouncing Souls are an American punk band from New Brunswick, New Jersey, formed in 1989. By the time of their acknowledgment by the national punk rock scene, they had reignited a "pogo" element to New Jersey punk rock by playing fast light-hearted songs, a model followed by various other local bands. History The four original members grew up in Basking Ridge, New Jersey and played in smaller bands while attending Ridge High School. Although they decided to forgo college, they made the decision to move to a college town; New Brunswick, NJ, which is the home of Rutgers University.
