Pioneer Scout Reservation
The Richard P. Anderson Pioneer Scout Reservation also known as Pioneer Scout Reservation (PSR) and Camp Frontier was opened in 1969 by Erie Shores Council. It is a Boy Scout camp in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan just west of Pioneer, Ohio. The camp itself is just over 1200 acres. It hosts many events year round like spring/fall camporees and camp Alaska in the winter, but is most known for its summer program Camp Frontier which is very popular and one of the best programs in the area. This camp has many different areas for their Camp Frontier program, such as, shooting sports which includes, the rifle range, shotgun range, and archery range. Pioneer, Ohio
Pioneer is a village in Williams County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,369 at the 2010 census. History Pioneer was platted in 1853. A post office has been in operation at Pioneer since 1851. From 1903, the village was the terminus of an electric interurban passenger railroad from Toledo called the Toledo and Western Railway, which was hoping to become a link in an electric rail service from that city to Chicago but which got no further. The line closed to passengers in 1933 but continued freight service until 1943, from 1934 as the Pioneer and Fayette Railroad. This was only formally abandoned in 1991. Project COPE
COPE is an acronym for Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience, a program in the Boy Scouts of America. It consists of group initiative games, trust events, and high and low ropes course. Some activities involve a group challenge, while others develop individual skills and agility. Participants climb, swing, balance, jump, rappel, and devise solutions to a variety of problems. History In 1920, Kurt Hahn established the Salem School, based on principles personal responsibility, kindness, and justice towards developing the fitness and confidence of participants. After being imprisoned in Germany then exiled to Great Britain in 1933, in 1941 Hahn established the Outward Bound program to train people for life by using the challenges of the sea and mountains.
