Pioneer Park (stadium)
Pioneer Park is a stadium on the campus of Tusculum University in Greeneville, Tennessee. It is primarily used for baseball as the home field for the college's baseball team, the Tusculum Pioneers. It was built in 2004, and holds 4,000 people. It is also home to the Greeneville Flyboys of the summer collegiate Appalachian League. It was previously home to the Greeneville Reds Minor League Baseball team of the then-Rookie League, Rookie Appalachian League from 2018 to 2020 and the Greeneville Astros from 2004 to 2017. Tusculum Pioneers Baseball
Tusculum is a ruined Roman city in the Alban Hills, in the Latium region of Italy. Tusculum was most famous in Roman times for the many great and luxurious patrician country villas sited close to the city, yet a comfortable distance from Rome (notably the villas of Cicero and Lucullus). Location Tusculum is located on Tuscolo hill on the northern edge of the outer crater rim of the Alban volcano. The volcano itself is located in the Alban Hills south of the present-day town of Frascati. Greeneville Astros
The Greeneville Astros were a Minor League Baseball team that played in the Rookie-level Appalachian League from 2004 to 2017. They represented the town of Greeneville, Tennessee, though Pioneer Park, their home stadium, was located in nearby Tusculum on the campus of Tusculum College. They were named for their Major League Baseball affiliate, the Houston Astros. Over 14 years of competition, the Astros played in 938 regular season games and compiled a 440–498 win–loss record. They qualified for the postseason on four occasions and won the Appalachian League championship in 2004 and 2015. They had a postseason record of 9–8. Tusculum University
Tusculum University is a private Presbyterian university with its main campus in Tusculum, Tennessee. It is Tennessee's first university and the 28th-oldest operating college in the United States. In addition to its main campus, the institution maintains a regional center for Adult and Online Studies in Knoxville, and Morristown.
