Pinneberg District
Pinneberg () is a district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is bounded by (from the northwest and clockwise) the districts of Steinburg and Segeberg, the city (and state) of Hamburg and the state of Lower Saxony (district Stade). The island of Heligoland is also part of the district. History The district is roughly identical to the former county of Holstein-Pinneberg. It was established by the Prussian administration in 1867. Since then there has been a continuous loss of territory to the neighbouring cities of Altona (later itself a part of Hamburg), Hamburg and Norderstedt. The island of Heligoland, formerly a district by itself, joined the district in 1932. Geography The district is situated on the northern bank of the Elbe River. Pinneberg
Pinneberg (; Northern Low Saxon: ''Pinnbarg'') is a town in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany. It is the capital of the Pinneberg (district), district of Pinneberg and has a population of about 43,500 inhabitants. Pinneberg is located 18 km northwest of the city centre of Hamburg. Near Pinneberg is the transmission site for the maritime weather radioteletype and radiofax service DDH47, working on 147.3 kHz. A T-aerial is used, strung between two guyed masts. History When a castle was first built in Pinneberg around the year 1200 AD, the site had already been used as a Germanic Thingstätte for several centuries. Schenefeld (Northern Low Saxon: ''Scheenfeld'') is a town in the district of Pinneberg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated at the northwest border of Hamburg. Rellingen
Rellingen is a municipality in the district of Pinneberg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated approximately 7 km east of Pinneberg, and 10 km northwest of Hamburg. Population as of December 31, 2007 is 13,746. The total land is 13.19 km². Rellingen was formerly part of the Duchy of Holstein, a subject of the Danish Crown. Transportation Rellingen can be reached from Bundesautobahn 23. The Hamburg S-Bahn (line 3) and bus system (lines 185, 195, 295 and 395) are also connected to Rellingen. Architecture Rellingen is famous for its Lutheran church. The architect was Cai Dose. The previous church building was damaged badly during the Thirty Years War. Halstenbek is a free municipality in the district of Pinneberg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the north-western border of the city of Hamburg and approximately 5 km southeast of Pinneberg. Geography Halstenbek is located in a cultivated heath and bog area.
