Pinkus Friedrich Frankl
Pinkus Friedrich Frankl (; February 28, 1848 – August 22, 1887) was a German rabbi and scholar. Biography Pinkus Friedrich Frankl was born in Uherský Brod, Ungarisch-Brod, Moravia, in 1848. He received his education at the ''yeshivah'' in Bratislava, Presburg, and later prepared for the rabbinate at the Jewish Theological Seminary of Breslau, Jewish Theological Seminary in Wrocław, Breslau. Simultaneously, he pursued studies in Middle Eastern studies, Orientalia at University of Wrocław, the university of the same city, earning his doctoral degree in 1870. In 1875, Frankl assumed the position of secretary of the Wiener Israelitische Allianz. In 1877, he succeeded Abraham Geiger as rabbi in Berlin. Uherský Brod
Uherský Brod (; german: Ungarisch Brod) is a town in Uherské Hradiště District in the Zlín Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 16,000 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Administrative parts Villages of Havřice, Maršov, Těšov and Újezdec are administrative parts of Uherský Brod. Etymology The name means literally "Hungarian Ford". It refers to its historical location near a ford across the local river Olšava and near the border with Kingdom of Hungary. Geography Uherský Brod is situated southeast from Prague and southeast from Uherské Hradiště. It lies in the Vizovice Highlands on the Olšava River.
