Pink Palace (Washington, D.C.)
The Pink Palace, also known as the Mrs. Marshall Field House and the Inter-American Defense Board, is a historic house located in the Meridian Hill neighborhood in Washington, D.C. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1991. George Oakley Totten Jr. was the architect for the structure that was completed in 1906. Additions were made to the house in 1912 and 1988. Meridian Hill Park, also known as Malcolm X Park, is a structured urban park located in the Washington, D.C., neighborhood of Columbia Heights; it also abuts the nearby neighborhood of Adams Morgan. The park was designed and built between 1912 and 1940. This , formally landscaped site is officially part of the National Capital Parks Unit of the National Park System, and is administered by the superintendent of nearby Rock Creek Park. The Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) is an international committee of nationally appointed defense officials who develop collaborative approaches on common defense and security issues facing countries in North, Central, and South America. The IADB provides technical advice and services to the Organization of American States (OAS). The IADB was created in 1942 by foreign ministers of 21 states, in the middle of World War II. It is now the oldest existing defense organization in the world. In March 2006, the OAS assumed formal authority over the IADB.
